08 - Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process

Summary

The Lead Engineer, Manufacturing Process is responsible for designing, developing, deploying and optimizing processes for manufacturing to achieve quality cost and delivery goals for Celestica and its customers products.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

• Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators.
• Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment and conferring with equipment vendors.
• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
• Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods testing finished-product and process capabilities establishing standards and confirming manufacturing processes.
• Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs reviewing production schedules and estimating future requirements.
• Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.
• Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures and requesting special service.
• Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
• Determines root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
• Estimates costs, production times, or staffing requirements for new designs.
• Prepares documentation for new manufacturing processes or engineering procedures.
• Provides technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

• Strong proficiency in 8D Problem Solving and PFMEA.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA).
• Proven experience in manufacturing processes and troubleshooting.
• Sound technical know-how in Mechanical, Electrical, Pneumatic, and Control Devices is a strong added advantage.
• High level of accountability takes product ownership seriously and strives to complete tasks within critical timeframes.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective engagement with cross-functional teams

Physical Demands

• Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
• Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
• Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Typical Experience

• At least 6 years of related experiencExperience in similar job roles

Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience.
