Our client is a renowned consultancy firm with global footprints across 34 countries and keen focus on large-scale commercial projects such as Data Centers, Aviation, Healthcare etc. They're currently seeking for a Regional Mechanical Design Lead/ Associate Principal to join the team as their Data Center project pipelines grow in the region. (Approximately 50% of the project pipeline is Data Centre projects across APAC)
As an Associate - Mechanical, you will lead and deliver mechanical engineering consultancy projects within the Group. You are responsible for providing technical leadership, mentoring the mechanical engineering team, and driving capability development to fuel business growth. Your role is pivotal in ensuring technical excellence, project success, and fostering key client relationships.
Responsibilities:
1. Leadership & Team Development:
· Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the mechanical engineering team.
· Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
· Develop the team's capabilities to align with the Group's strategic business plan for Malaysia.
2. Client & Business Development:
· Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, government agencies, and industry partners.
· Lead the preparation of proposals and submissions, and participate in contract negotiations.
· Enhance the MEP team's reputation and capacity to effectively serve target markets.
3. Project Management & Delivery:
· Oversee the delivery of Mechanical Services projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, budget, and schedule.
· Implement and administer robust project monitoring and control systems.
· Facilitate and coordinate design activities and processes across the team.
4. Technical Excellence & Quality Assurance:
· Establish, maintain, and enforce technical standards and best practices within the MEP team.
· Ensure design techniques, reference materials, and software tools are current and correctly applied.
· Conduct technical reviews at key project stages to verify that deliverables:
· Meet project quality objectives and the client's brief.
· Incorporate value engineering to reduce construction costs and maximize client benefits.
· Minimize internal delivery costs while maximizing future opportunities for the firm.
Requirements
· A relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
· Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in MEP consulting, with a strong background in design and successful project management.
· Specific, demonstrable project experience in the Secure Infrastructure (SIT) and Data Centre sectors.
· Eligibility for Chartered Engineer status with a recognized institution (e.g., Institute of Engineers Australia, Malaysia's BEM/PEPC, or an equivalent international body).
· A well-established network of client contacts within the property development sector, coupled with a proven history of successful project consultancy and business development.
· Substantial experience in team leadership, including mentoring, facilitating professional growth for junior staff, and implementing effective performance management strategies.
· Proven ability to build and develop teams with complementary skills to maximize business outcomes.
