Job Description

Role Overview

The Assistant Data Platform Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, stability, security, and data quality of the company's data platform. The role ensures that business data is reliable, accurate, and readily available for reporting, analytics, and decision-making.

The role will also play a key part in the company's migration to Microsoft Fabric, supporting UAT, data validation, production readiness, cutover, go-live, and post-go-live stabilization. This position will work closely with IT, business stakeholders, vendors, and data teams across Hong Kong, Guangzhou, China, and Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities

1. Data Platform Operations

  • Manage the daily operations and performance of the existing data platform, including monitoring, incident management, recovery, and service stability.
  • Maintain data integrations across D365 Finance & Operations (D365 FO), POS, CRM/Loyalty, retail applications, and other business systems.
  • Monitor and support data pipelines, transformations, data validation processes, runbooks, and data quality controls.
  • Manage data access, security, audit controls, and retention requirements in accordance with IT policies and governance standards.
  • Support BI reporting datasets, SSRS reports, and business requests involving data changes or enhancements.
  • Identify recurring issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement improvements to platform reliability and performance.

2. Microsoft Fabric Migration & UAT

  • Support and coordinate Microsoft Fabric UAT, including test scope, test cases, schedules, entry/exit criteria, and user sign-off.
  • Manage UAT defects by prioritizing issues, identifying root causes, coordinating fixes, conducting retesting, and ensuring closure.
  • Validate critical business data between the existing platform and Microsoft Fabric, including sales, membership, coupons, redemptions, and other key metrics.
  • Support production-readiness activities, including performance tuning, monitoring, alerting, security, governance, and operational runbooks.
  • Support cutover, parallel runs, rollback planning, go-live, and post-go-live stabilization.
  • Work closely with business users and technical teams to minimize reporting disruption during migration.

3. Team & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead, mentor, and coach 2 data team members based in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.
  • Work closely with IT, Retail, Factory, Finance, Marketing, CRM, Loyalty, and other business functions.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and outsourcing partners to ensure service quality and timely issue resolution.
  • Communicate technical issues, risks, and project progress clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, BI, production data support, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in data platform operations, production support, data quality, UAT, and go-live activities.
  • Experience working with data from ERP, POS, CRM/Loyalty, retail, promotions, or similar business systems.
  • Strong SQL skills with hands-on experience in technologies such as: Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Data pipelines, Lakehouse architecture, Notebooks, Semantic models, SSRS, Git
