OVERALL SCOPE OF JOB DESRIPTION
Assistant Manager – QCI at The Datai Langkawi is responsible for assisting QCI Manager in overseeing and managing the overall implementation of quality control and improvement initiatives, policies, and programmes across the resort.
Under the general guidance of the QCI Manager, and within the limits of The Datai Langkawi policies and procedures, you will be an integral part of the Quality Control and continuous improvement philosophy. You will ensure that the hotel standards are well implemented and operated in a consistent manner to deliver high quality of service to our Guest.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Core Responsibilities
- Support the QCI Manager in implementing Quality Control and Continuous Improvement (QCI) strategies across all departments.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and conducting regular audits in all operational front of house departments, inspections of rooms, public areas, F&B outlets, and back-of-house areas to ensure compliance with SOPs and brand standards.
- Monitor and follow up on audit findings, non-conformities, and corrective actions with respective departments to ensure timely closure.
- Consolidate and review feedback from guest satisfaction platforms (e.g. Revinate and all other guest feedback platforms), internal reports, and quality assessments, highlighting key issues for action.
- Assist in preparing monthly QCI reports, including performance trends, key achievements, and areas of concern.
- Work closely with the Hygiene Executive to monitor hygiene practices and food safety compliance, ensuring alignment with HACCP requirements.
b. Operation and Coordination Role
- Coordinate quality improvement initiatives and ensure proper execution of action plans across departments (e.g. The Datai Langkawi Sustainability Strategies)
- Liaise with Heads of Departments to ensure alignment on quality standards, audit requirements, and improvement priorities (LQA)
- Support preparation and coordination for internal and external audits (e.g. brand standards, ASEAN Green Hotel, MOTAC 5-Star Rating, MOTAC Green Hotel, HACCP audit)
- Ensure proper documentation, tracking, and filing of audit reports, SOPs, and compliance records.
c. Process Improvement and Training Support
- Assist in reviewing operational processes and identifying gaps or inefficiencies, supporting the QCI Manager in improvement initiatives.
- Support coordination of training sessions related to quality standards, hygiene, and service excellence.
- Work closely with the Learning & Development Manager and QCI Manager to identify training needs based on audit findings, compliance gaps, and quality performance trends.
d. Sustainability
- Support sustainability initiatives within the resort, ensuring alignment with operational practices and integration into quality monitoring processes.
- Work together with Sustainability team in Sustainability projects and initiatives (e.g. Earth Check certification, Carbon Reduction initiative, etc.)
e. Team Support and Coverage
- Supervise and guide the QCI Coordinator and support the Hygiene Executive in daily operations when required.
- Act as the point of contact for QCI matters in the absence of QCI Manager.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Good in the use of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Power Point, Excel and Word)
- Good communications and writing skills
- Experience in hotel will be a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Reliable with patience and professionalism
- Associate's/College degree in Hospitality management or relevant field is a plus
