The Role
We are seeking an experienced Audit Partner / Director to lead and grow our audit practice, with a strong focus on public-listed company and PIE audit engagements. This is a senior leadership role offering equity partnership potential for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage statutory audits for listed companies, PIEs, and large private groups, ensuring full compliance with approved standards on auditing (ISA/ISAs as adopted in Malaysia) and AOB requirements
- Act as Engagement Partner / Signing Partner for audit engagements requiring AOB-registered auditor sign-off
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with audit committees, boards, and senior client management
- Drive business development, including client retention and new engagement wins (IPO audits, due diligence, special assignments)
- Oversee audit quality control, ensuring adherence to the firm's system of quality management (ISQM 1) and AOB inspection standards
- Mentor, train and develop audit managers and staff, building bench strength for listed-company engagements
- Liaise with regulators including the AOB, Bursa Malaysia, and Securities Commission Malaysia as required
- Contribute to firm strategy, practice growth, and (where applicable) equity partnership matters
Requirements
- Registered with the Audit Oversight Board (AOB) as an approved auditor/company auditor — mandatory, or eligible and actively pursuing AOB registration
- Recognized professional qualification: Chartered Accountant (MIA), ACCA, CPA Australia, ICAEW, or equivalent
- Minimum 10–15 years of audit experience, including significant exposure to listed company and PIE audits
- Prior experience at a Big Four, mid-tier, or AOB-registered firm strongly preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of MFRS/IFRS, ISA, and Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements
- Proven track record in engagement leadership, client relationship management, and team development
- Existing client portfolio or business development track record is an advantage
- Excellent command of English; Mandarin/Bahasa Malaysia an advantage for local client base
