BIM / Design Engineer – Data Centre Construction
About the Role
Main Objectives
- Produce accurate and timely project drawings, BIM models, layouts, and design documentation in accordance with project requirements, specifications, and construction schedules.
- Ensure drawings and models are coordinated, accurate, constructible, and aligned with approved design requirements.
- Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, Clients, Contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective design coordination and project execution.
- Support the resolution of design and construction-related issues through accurate drawings, modelling, technical coordination, and design updates.
- Maintain strong working relationships with project stakeholders and provide responsive technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain and continuously develop proficiency in BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, and other relevant design and engineering software.
- Ensure all design and documentation activities comply with applicable project standards, specifications, quality requirements, and document control procedures.
Responsibilities
- Percentage of drawings, models, and design deliverables completed within or ahead of project deadlines.
- Accuracy and quality of drawings and BIM models, including the number of revisions, errors, clashes, and design-related rework.
- Timely incorporation of design changes and construction requirements into drawings and models.
- Number of design-related issues or coordination clashes identified and resolved before construction.
- Compliance of drawings and BIM deliverables with approved project standards, specifications, and document control requirements.
- Responsiveness to technical queries, RFIs, site requirements, and design clarification requests.
- Quality and completeness of as-built drawings and final project documentation.
- Proficiency and effective utilisation of BIM, Revit, AutoCAD, and other relevant technical tools.
- Feedback from Project Managers, Consultants, Clients, and construction teams regarding design quality and technical support.
Qualifications
Major Responsibilities Include
- Design & Drafting
- Prepare accurate engineering drawings, layouts, details, schematics, and technical documentation using AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and other relevant software.
- Develop and maintain detailed BIM models in accordance with project requirements and approved design information.
- Prepare construction drawings and design documentation for data centre infrastructure and building services.
- Ensure drawings incorporate relevant architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, ELV, fire protection, and other specialist system requirements as applicable.
- Update drawings and models based on approved design changes, site conditions, RFIs, technical clarifications, and construction requirements.
- Ensure all drawings and models are properly referenced, coordinated, version-controlled, and issued according to project procedures.
Required Skills
- BIM & Design Coordination
- Coordinate BIM models and drawings across multiple disciplines to identify potential clashes, interface issues, and constructability concerns.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, specialist vendors, and project teams.
- Review and incorporate design information from various disciplines into coordinated project models.
- Support clash detection and resolution activities throughout the construction phase.
- Ensure design changes are properly reflected across relevant drawings, models, schedules, and documentation.
- Assist the project team in identifying design conflicts before they impact site construction.

- Provide technical drawing and design support to site teams during construction.
- Attend site inspections and walkdowns to verify existing conditions and ensure construction activities are aligned with approved drawings.
- Review site conditions and incorporate approved changes into construction documentation where required.
- Support the resolution of technical queries, RFIs, site issues, and design discrepancies.
- Work closely with site engineers and construction teams to provide practical and constructible design solutions.
- Assist in evaluating proposed site changes and ensuring they are properly documented and approved.

- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Consultants, Clients, Contractors, Subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Participate in project coordination meetings, design reviews, technical discussions, and site meetings.
- Support the Project Manager and engineering team in tracking design deliverables and outstanding technical matters.
- Communicate design requirements and technical information clearly to construction and project teams.
- Coordinate with third parties and specialist vendors where their systems or works interface with the project design.

- Participate in internal training, technical workshops, and professional development activities.
- Continuously improve technical knowledge and proficiency in relevant design and engineering tools.
