Cash Application Lead
About the Opportunity
A global shared services organisation is seeking an experienced Global Cash Application Team Lead to oversee end-to-end cash application operations across multiple regions. This leadership role combines operational expertise, stakeholder management, people leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced global finance environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with strong Accounts Receivable (AR), Cash Application, Reconciliation, and Team Management experience who are looking to lead an international team while driving process excellence and standardisation.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
- Lead daily cash application activities including payment allocation and posting across multiple regions.
- Ensure accurate and timely application of customer payments based on remittance information.
- Review and oversee bank and ERP reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve unapplied cash, unidentified payments, short payments, overpayments, and duplicate payments.
- Support month-end close activities, audit requirements, and internal control compliance.
People Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Cash Application Specialists.
- Establish and monitor KPIs, service levels, and productivity metrics.
- Manage workload distribution and regional coverage across multiple time zones.
- Act as the escalation point for complex payment and reconciliation issues.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with Collections, Credit Control, Billing, Treasury, Revenue, and other finance teams.
- Lead governance discussions and review operational performance across regions.
- Partner with banking institutions and service providers to improve payment processing efficiencies.
Continuous Improvement
- Drive automation, standardisation, and process optimisation initiatives.
- Improve auto-matching rates, reduce unapplied cash balances, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare and present management reports on key cash application metrics and performance indicators.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or Cash Application functions.
- Prior team leadership, supervisory, or people management experience.
- Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or JDE.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
- Shared Services, Global Business Services (GBS), or multinational finance experience will be highly advantageous.
