Commis - Chinese Kitchen

About the role

Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur is seeking a talented Commis to join our dynamic and creative culinary team. As a Commis, you will play a role in supporting the preparation and execution of high-quality dishes in our hotel's kitchens. This full-time position is located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

What You'll Be Doing

• Produce quality dishes in a timely and efficient manner for guests.
• Prepare and cook all food items according to recipes and specifications.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and proper storage.
• Ensure the highest standards and consistency in daily food preparation while staying updated on new products, recipes, and techniques.
• Prepare mise-en-place for banquets and restaurant buffets as per the function plan.
• Follow and maintain excellent cleanliness and hygiene practices in the kitchen.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a Commis or kitchen assistant role in Chinese Kitchen, preferably within the hospitality industry.
• Strong passion for culinary arts and a keen interest in developing your cooking skills.
• Excellent time management, multitasking, and teamwork abilities.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene.
• Flexible and adaptable to work in various kitchen stations as required.
• A culinary-related certificate is an added advantage.
