Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented
Commissioning Manager to lead and manage the commissioning activities for large-scale
data center construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and documentation of the full commissioning lifecycle across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and life safety systems, ensuring delivery to the highest quality, safety, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Project Oversight
- Lead and coordinate all commissioning phases from pre-design through turnover and closeout.
- Manage multidisciplinary commissioning teams including engineers, third-party Cx agents, contractors, vendors, and consultants.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for commissioning-related communication with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Commissioning Planning
- Develop project-specific Commissioning Plans and Commissioning Schedules.
- Define commissioning scopes, protocols, and acceptance criteria aligned with owner's project requirements (OPR).
- Ensure coordination of commissioning activities with the overall project schedule.
- Execution & Quality Assurance
- Oversee the commissioning of critical infrastructure systems including:
- Electrical: UPS systems, switchgear, generators, PDUs, ATS, STS
- Mechanical: HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units
- Controls: Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
- Ensure system integration testing (IST) and performance validation meets design intent.
- Review and approve test scripts, method statements, and results documentation.
- Documentation & Handover
- Manage preparation of commissioning reports, final sign-off documents, and operational manuals.
- Ensure punch list items are tracked and resolved prior to final project turnover.
- Support the handover to operations and maintenance teams, including training sessions.
- Risk & Compliance Management
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies throughout the commissioning process.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, ISO, LEED, etc.).
- Enforce safety protocols and participate in safety audits related to commissioning activities.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or relevant Engineering discipline.
- Master's degree or equivalent experience is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in commissioning, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record managing commissioning in hyperscale or enterprise-level data centers or other mission-critical environments.
Certifications (Preferred But Not Mandatory)
- Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) – BCA
- Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP) – ASHRAE
- Project Management Professional (PMP) – PMI
- Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer or Accredited Operations Specialist
Skills
- Deep technical knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in data centers.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in commissioning management software (e.g., CxAlloy, Bluebeam, Procore).
- Ability to analyze and resolve complex system integration issues.
