Job Description



Purpose Statement: Ensure optimized usage of our preferred supplier base focusing on lowest total cost of ownership and customer satisfaction. Defines and executes the sourcing strategy for commodity families assigned and guides its implementation.
Key Job Accountabilities:

  • -Ensure the commercial and cost savings benefits are realized at the P&L level and drive the commodity via a P&L structure to achieve targeted net parts margin.
  • -Identify opportunities for operational excellence and cost saving within the commodity families assigned to achieve established cost reduction targets.
  • -Steer the negotiations of contracts. Aim to achieve the best purchasing conditions for material at preferred suppliers to arrive at desired spend and working capital improvements.
  • -Demonstrate an effective global supply strategy for assigned commodity, measured by lowest total cost of ownership, enabled by supplier segmentation, development and management.
  • -Be a key escalation point of contact for shortages to prevent revenue shortfall or customer dissatisfaction.
  • -Accountable to execute on Plexus Best People strategy, leaders will focus on evaluating potential, driving succession planning and ensuring that their employees receive the development and coaching required to realize their full potential.

Additional Accountabilities:
  • Maintain Sourcing and Material Costing roadmap, value stream map and opportunity funnel.
  • Work with quoting team to win business for competitive bid.
  • Ensure supplier contracts are in place and enforced with applicable language to limit risk.
  • Interface with Plexus Customer Management teams and functions within Supply Chain to identify customers needs and support their supply chain strategies.
  • Drive improvement in the key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with regional and corporate goals.
  • Is accountable for continuous supplier management (e.g. follow-up on escalated contract violations, phase-in and phase-out of suppliers).
  • Understand the current component market conditions and effectively communicate it with Plexus and our customers.
  • Proactively develop executive level supplier relationship that result in Plexus achieving competitive costs, terms and availability of supply in all market conditions.
