We seek an Economic Analyst/Economist for the Economic Research division of RAM Rating Services Berhad, Malaysia's leading and premier Credit Rating Agency. Our Economic Research team produces macroeconomic analysis, thematic research, and market insights that inform both internal rating assessments and external stakeholders.
The work we do includes:
- Macroeconomic surveillance, research and analysis, production of economic reports, thematic research and market commentary
- Development and maintenance of macroeconomic frameworks and models
- Presentation and briefings for internal and external stakeholders/clients
- Customised solutions and research output
As an Economic Analyst/Economist, you will play an important role in supporting the economic research team in its many routine and ad-hoc research reports, deliverables and projects, as well as provide support to the rating services team. Your responsibilities will include undertaking research, monitoring economic and financial market developments, performing development and maintenance of economic forecast models, and translating data and trends into clear economic insights and implications. You are expected to contribute to enhancing the overall productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of the Company.
You will:
- Conduct research and analysis on topics assigned.
- Prepare research outputs and support both internal stakeholders and external deliverables
- Contribute to macro-monitoring and surveillance of economic and financial developments.
- Support the Head of Department in preparation and production of economic reports, thematic papers and other relevant write-ups.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of macroeconomic databases, frameworks and models.
- Coordinate and work together with internal departments and/or external parties on ad-hoc projects and/or special assignments.
- Provide economic inputs and research notes to internal rating teams and senior management,
- Participate in discussions on economic developments and contribute to internal and external briefings where appropriate.
- Adhere to the Standard Operating Policies and Procedures of RAM Rating Services Berhad.
- Maintain high business integrity and comply with the Rules and Regulations governing Rating Agencies by regulatory bodies at all times.
- Undertake any ad-hoc tasks as and when necessary.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Econometrics, Public Policy, or related discipline
- 0–3 years of experience in economic research, financial analysis or a related field.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office and statistical analytical knowledge such as EViews, Python and R is preferred.
- Clear and structured written and verbal communication skills.
- Great analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw meaningful insights.
- Ability to explain complex economic concepts clearly and concisely is an advantage.
