Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to drive the design, delivery and evolution of mission-critical banking platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design and delivery of enterprise-scale banking applications and platforms.
- Provide technical leadership across the full software development lifecycle, ensuring scalable, secure and resilient solutions.
- Partner with business stakeholders, product owners, architects and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technology solutions.
- Drive solution architecture decisions, technology roadmaps and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with regional stakeholders across multiple markets to deliver strategic technology initiatives.
- Review and govern solution designs to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, regulatory requirements and security standards.
- Identify opportunities to modernise platforms and improve system performance, reliability and scalability.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Provide people leadership, coaching and performance management where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
- 12+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture or technology leadership roles.
- Proven experience within the banking or financial services industry is essential.
- Strong domain expertise in either Payments or Credit Cards platforms.
- Extensive hands-on experience developing and architecting enterprise applications using Java, with a strong understanding of modern Java frameworks and backend technologies.
- Strong solution architecture experience with the ability to balance business, technical and operational considerations.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging regional business and technology leaders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering teams in Agile delivery environments.
- Previous people management or engineering leadership experience is highly advantageous.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with digital banking, transaction processing or card management platforms.
- Exposure to cloud technologies, microservices and API-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and modern engineering practices.
- Experience working across multiple countries or regional banking organisations.
