The primary roles for a Modification Engineer involve overseeing the planning, coordination, and implementation of engineering projects to ensure they are completed within the defined scope, time, and budget constraints. This role typically requires a blend of engineering expertise, project management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across different teams and stakeholders.
Leading the project
Analyze project feasibility, cost, schedule, and performance to align with strategic goals.
Develop comprehensive business case, project plans that merge the requirements with company goals and coordinate various stakeholders during all project phases, from initial development through implementation.
Establish detailed work scope based on the input from the Project Requisition Form (PRF)
Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, resolving issues, and making adjustments as and when required.
Project Implementation & Coordination
Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to Project PIC 2 and/or Technician.
Work closely with the Supply Chain Division (SCD) to prepare documents and presentation slides for the tendering/procurement process.
Project Monitoring & Reporting
Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, resolving issues, and making adjustments as needed.
Track project milestones and deliverables; report project status to stakeholders.
Project Risk Management
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
Project Stakeholder Management
Allocate project resources appropriately; manage resource availability and resource allocation.
Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis, setting and managing project expectations.
Project Quality Assurance
Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and customer expectations.
Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
Compliance and Safety
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards.
Coordinate with the HSE department to ensure all activities meet health and safety requirements.
Project Change Management
Lead change management processes, ensuring smooth adaptation to change across project teams and stakeholders
Develop strategies to manage resistance and implement change effectively.
REQUIREMENT
Possess a Diploma/ Degree in Engineering or related field from a recognized university/college.
Minimum 3 years of experience in both technical and project management roles. Prior experience in a container port environment will be considered a significant advantage.
Candidates with PMP will be considered a significant advantage.
Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
Proficient in project management tools (MS Project)
Attention to detail and precision.
Strong organizational, communication and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Certifications such as CSWIP 3.0 and/or ASNT Level I/II or higher will be beneficial.
Ability to coordinate multiple project activities with minimal supervision.
Highly motivated with the capacity to work independently.
Proficient in computer skills, especially MS Office.
Fluent in both English and Bahasa Malay, in both verbal and written forms.
Willingness to work extra hours, including public holidays and days off/rest days.
Capable of adapting to a dynamic, challenging, and demanding work environment.
