Job Summary
The Production Planner is responsible for planning and coordinating CNC machining production activities to ensure efficient machine utilization, smooth production flow, and on-time delivery (OTD). The role works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Material Planning, Purchasing, and subcontract teams to support daily operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Scheduling
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer demand
- Prioritize machining jobs according to delivery dates, machine capacity, material readiness, and process flow.
- Coordinate machine allocation and optimize CNC machine and process utilization
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules when necessary
2. Capacity Planning & Resource Optimization
- Analyze machine capacity, manpower, and production bottlenecks
- Support in-house and subcontract production planning activities
- Identify capacity issues and propose improvement actions
- Ensure efficient resource utilization to meet operational targets
3. Work Order & WIP Management
- Release and manage work orders in SAP and MES systems
- Monitor Work-In-Progress (WIP) movement and production status
- Track production performance against schedule commitments
- Minimize production delays caused by material shortages or process interruptions
4. Material & Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Warehouse, and Material Planning teams to ensure material readiness
- Monitor raw material and subcontract processing status
- Follow up on material shortages and expedite urgent requirements
- Maintain inventory accuracy to support production continuity
5. Monitoring & Reporting
- Track production output and schedule adherence
- Prepare production reports, KPI tracking, and planning analysis
- Support monthly operational reviews and management reporting
- Participate in continuous improvement and productivity initiatives
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution of production plans.
- Communicate schedule changes and operational priorities effectively
- Support problem-solving activities related to production planning and delivery performance
7. SAP / MES System Management
- Maintain accurate production planning data in SAP and MES systems
- Ensure timely system updates for production status and capacity planning
- Support system improvement and process enhancement initiatives
- Assist in planning accuracy and reporting improvements
Job Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or related fields
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Production Planning within a precision manufacturing environment
- Experience in CNC machining processes and production flow is an added advantage
- Knowledge of SAP ERP and MES systems preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of production planning, MRP/ERP systems, and CNC machining operations
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and coordination skills across department
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and reporting tool
