Job Description

Company Description: Galaxy Aerospace (M) Sdn. Bhd. (GAM), established in 2015, is an emerging private aviation company in Malaysia's growing aviation market. GAM provides a range of services including Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO), technical consultancy, parts sales, aviation design, and after-sales support through partnerships with major OEMs. Although the company is relatively young, its team brings together over 35 years of combined experience across government, private, and general aviation sectors in Malaysia. GAM builds a reputation for reliable, high-quality aviation services and long-term customer partnerships, allowing professionals to grow in a specialized, expanding industry.

Role Description: The most senior finance role within the organisation, responsible for leading the finance and accounting function end-to-end. The role provides strategic financial direction to the Managing Director, Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and senior management, safeguards the organisation's financial integrity through robust controls and reporting, and drives financial planning, risk management, and fundraising activities that support the company's growth objectives. This is a leadership role encompassing both operational financial management and broader organisational management responsibilities.

Key Working Relationships

  • Internal: Managing Director, senior management team, department HODs, finance team, internal audit/compliance.
  • External: External auditors, bankers, regulators/tax authorities, investors, vendors, and professional advisors (legal, tax, corporate secretarial).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is an advantage.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role
  • Proven track record in financial planning & analysis, statutory reporting, treasury, and risk management
  • Experience managing a finance team and supervising other finance leads (e.g. Finance Managers/Controllers/Treasurers).
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools.

Scope of work.

Operation Management:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and management of the finance and accounting team.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the Managing Director, Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and members of the management team.
  • Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting.
  • Advise on long-term business and financial planning and drive the company's financial planning.
  • Perform risk management by analysing the organisation's liabilities and investments.
  • Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks.
  • Control and evaluate the organisation's fundraising plans and capital structure.
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organisation's operations.
  • Supervise all finance personnel (Controllers, Treasurers, etc.).
  • Manage vendor relationships.
  • Prepare reliable current and forecasting reports.
  • Set up and oversee the company's finance systems; ensure compliance with the law and company policies.

General Management

  • Maintain professional relationships with co-workers, peers, superiors, consultants, clients, and relevant authorities regarding work matters.
  • Ensure that the organisation carries out its statutory obligations and protects its interests.
  • Manage staff performance and plan their training and development to ensure effectiveness.
  • Support, ensure competence, and build availability of competent successors among subordinates.
  • Be responsible for developing and establishing productivity and performance monitoring systems for all key positions within the Group, towards continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all projects are funded.
  • Streamline financial reporting to the Managing Director, Executive Director, and Chief Operating Officer, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Identify and implement cost savings.
  • Introduce profit improvement and return-on-investment initiatives to shareholders

  • Timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting to the MD and Board.

  • Healthy cash flow and liquidity management (working capital targets met).
  • Successful completion of fundraising activities within target timelines.
  • Clean audit results with no material findings.
  • Cost savings and profit improvement initiatives delivered against target.
  • Successor readiness and team development milestones achieved.
