We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to lead Mastermark's operations and business growth in Malaysia.
In this role, you will be responsible for the overall performance of Mastermark Malaysia, combining your expertise in wildlife management, biology, ecology or a related field with strong commercial, financial and operational leadership. You will oversee day-to-day operations, business development, project delivery, people management and financial performance, while working closely with the regional leadership team in Singapore.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced wildlife or environmental professional who is ready to take on a broader leadership role. You will work closely with government agencies, airport operators, private-sector clients and other stakeholders to develop and deliver practical wildlife management solutions across Malaysia.
As General Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the overall business operations and strategic direction of Mastermark Malaysia.
- Taking responsibility for the company's P&L, revenue, profitability and financial performance.
- Preparing and managing annual budgets, forecasts, financial plans and operational targets.
- Understanding and reviewing P&L statements, balance sheets, cash flow and other financial reports, and using financial data to drive business decisions.
- Identifying opportunities to grow the Malaysian business, including developing new markets, services and client relationships.
- Leading business development activities and maintaining strong relationships with airport operators, government agencies, corporate clients and other key stakeholders.
- Overseeing wildlife management and environmental projects to ensure they are delivered safely, effectively, on time and within budget.
- Providing strategic and operational oversight across field teams and project operations.
- Leading, managing and developing the Malaysia team, including recruitment, performance management, training and succession planning.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant Malaysian regulations, industry standards, client requirements and company policies.
- Monitoring operational performance and implementing improvements to increase efficiency, productivity and profitability.
- Working closely with the Singapore leadership team on regional strategy, financial planning and business development.
- Representing Mastermark at meetings, industry events and with key external stakeholders.
- Supporting the continued development of Mastermark's wildlife management capabilities and reputation across Malaysia.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Zoology, Wildlife Management, Environmental Science or a related discipline. A Master's or PhD will be highly regarded.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience, preferably with experience in wildlife management, ecology, environmental consulting, conservation or a related field.
- Proven experience in a senior management, general management, operations management or business leadership role.
- Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheets, cash flow, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs and make commercially sound business decisions.
- Proven track record in business development, revenue generation and client relationship management.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with experience managing and developing teams.
- Strong understanding of wildlife ecology, conservation or environmental management, with knowledge of Southeast Asian wildlife, particularly birds, highly advantageous.
- Experience in airport wildlife hazard management, aviation, environmental consulting or related industries will be a strong advantage.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/business reporting tools.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Malaysia and, where required, across Southeast Asia and internationally.
- Valid driving licence.
