Job Purpose
- Lead the end-to-end energy business by developing and executing strategies that drive sustainable revenue growth, maximize asset value, and achieve long-term business objectives.
- Identify, evaluate, and commercialize energy-related business opportunities, investments, and strategic partnerships to expand the company's energy portfolio and market presence.
- Drive the company's energy strategy and performance across the infrastructure portfolio to optimize energy consumption, improve operational efficiency, and deliver sustainable cost savings.
- Lead the development of energy analytics and performance insights by transforming energy data into actionable intelligence that supports strategic decision-making and operational excellence.
- Oversee the commercial, financial, and operational performance of the energy business, ensuring effective governance, risk management, regulatory compliance, and delivery of business targets.
Key Accountabilities
Energy Strategy, Commercialization & Business Growth
- Develop and implement energy optimization strategies that deliver measurable electricity cost savings, operational efficiencies, and ROI across ECMY's infrastructure portfolio.
- Commercialize green energy solutions through techno-commercial feasibility studies, financial modelling, and scalable deployment strategies.
- Explore and develop new energy-related revenue streams including renewable energy, battery energy storage, Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS), carbon credits, demand response, and other emerging business opportunities.
- Develop business cases, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, product roadmaps, and scalable / commercializable Proof of Concepts (POCs) to support adoption of new energy technologies.
- Collaborate with Finance and Procurement to optimize electricity utilizations, energy procurement strategies, and commercial agreements while monitoring market trends and regulatory developments.
Energy Analytics, Governance & Performance Management
- Establish energy management processes, governance, and systems to ensure accurate tracking of energy consumption, electricity cost, and business KPIs.
- Develop energy dashboards and reporting tools that provide timely, accurate, and actionable insights for management decision-making.
- Establish robust data governance to ensure the integrity, consistency, and accuracy of energy data across multiple platforms.
- Lead development of analytics capabilities to identify energy consumption trends, benchmark performance, detect anomalies, and support predictive forecasting and budgeting.
- Monitor utility billing accuracy, perform variance analysis, root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions to improve energy performance and cost optimization.
Energy Optimization, Project Delivery & Operational Excellence
- Lead implementation of energy optimization initiatives across ECMY's infrastructure portfolio while ensuring network reliability and operational efficiency.
- Conduct energy-related RFQs and technical evaluations to optimize CapEx, improve solution competitiveness, and drive cost efficiencies.
- Collaborate with Network Operations, Engineering, Regional Operations, Technology, and external partners to execute energy improvement projects within scope, timeline, budget, and targeted ROI.
- Drive continuous improvement through deployment of smart energy technologies, automation, IoT, AI, and digital energy management solutions.
Energy Commercial Operations, Stakeholder Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead the design, implementation, and performance monitoring of Facility Energy Management (FEM) commercial models to ensure sustainable positive energy margins across operators.
- Monitor month-on-month energy costs, analyze performance variances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement action plans to improve profitability and operational performance.
- Build strong collaboration with internal stakeholders including Operations, Technology, Finance, Procurement, and external partners to drive successful delivery of energy initiatives.
- Lead strategic engagements with utility providers, technology vendors, consultants, and service providers to support energy optimization and commercialization objectives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making while ensuring achievement of energy cost savings, energy revenue growth, carbon reduction, and overall business KPIs.
Qualification, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Economics, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, Telecommunications or equivalent from a recognized local or foreign university.
- Master's degree in Engineering in Power Systems, Electrical or equivalent is an advantage.
- Accredited courses in Power Systems engineering, Battery Management, Energy Management, Quality Management, Environment, and Occupational Health & Safety Management.
- 10 years or more relevant telecom experience, with 5 years of experience in electrical and power systems designs and product development.
- Telecommunications industry exposure an advantage.
- Experience working in foreign environments and consultancy experience an advantage.
- Knowledge of telecommunications site infrastructure technology, equipment, passive and power systems and operations, and the ability to manage the entire spectrum of field maintenance operations and new site implementation programmes and projects.
- Knowledge of business, project management, good negotiation and change management.
- Understanding of Telecommunication Operators, Communications Service Providers key business and technology drivers will be an added advantage.
- Good oral and written communication skill.
- Possess strategic mindset, with clear and crisp articulation of thought.
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel®, Microsoft PowerPoint®, and other related software tools for running business models, plans, analysis, scenario analysis etc.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities in a real-time environment.
- Strong team-player with good inter-personal skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively articulate and deliver technical concepts to non-technical individuals within the business.
