Head of Business Operations

Position Overview

The role serves as the Managing Director's strategic business partner and effective second-in-command, ensuring

operational excellence, organisational accountability, and execution across all business functions. This individual

works closely with other HOD's to monitor business performance, drive cross-functional initiatives, improve

reporting standards, identify operational gaps, and ensure timely execution of company priorities. The ideal

candidate is analytical, commercially aware, highly organised, and confident managing senior stakeholders while

driving accountability throughout the organisation, without escalation.

Key Responsibilities

Business Performance Management

• Track departmental KPIs and company performance using the company's performance management system

(PMS)

• Monitor execution of strategic initiatives across all business units, including sales initiatives and pipeline

progress

• Ensure departments deliver against agreed objectives and timelines

• Identify operational gaps proactively and recommend practical, workable solutions

Executive Reporting

• Own the weekly and monthly reporting cadence to the MD

• Develop executive-level, decision-ready presentation decks for management meetings

• Analyse operational data and provide meaningful business insights

• Present findings, risks and recommendations to senior leadership

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Heads of Department to improve collaboration and champion ownership across teams

• Drive accountability across business units

• Follow up on action items from management meetings

• Ensure projects remain on schedule

Operational Excellence

• Review and improve business processes

• Introduce systems and tools that improve operational efficiency – open to new tools and platforms

• Support implementation of performance management initiatives

• Monitor organisational productivity and business performance

Risk Monitoring

• Monitor business risks affecting operational performance

• Assist with resource planning and operational forecasting

Requirements

• Bachelor's/ Master's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering or a related discipline

• Experience in Business Operations, Strategy, PMO, Business Performance or Consulting

• Experience managing Stakeholders / experience working with GM / Founder

• Strong numbers acumen combined with strong people skills – this role needs both

• Proven experience in performance management and KPI tracking & maximising productivity; PMS tool

experience is an added advantage

• Exposure to people and risk management, ideally in a project delivery context

• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

• Confident communicator, comfortable presenting to and challenging senior stakeholders

• Resilient operator – able to hold HODs accountable without escalation
