Head of Program (TESL)

With the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, Manipal International University was renamed as MILA University in 2023. As part of our ongoing expansion, MILA University is establishing a School of Education with the vision of becoming a leading education school in Asia.

We are inviting applications for the position of Head of Program in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL).

The candidates must be able to teach courses defined by Programme Standards: Master of Education in TESL, as well as support other programmes as they are developed.

We hope to find enthusiastic and motivated individuals with a strong record of professional practice, academic research, and/or enterprise activities in business management who can contribute to the growth of the School of Education, MILA University.

Job Summary

To provide academic leadership and manage the overall planning, implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of the TESL programme. The Head of Programme is responsible for ensuring the quality, relevance and compliance of the programme with MQA, MQF, University policies and applicable academic standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage the academic and operational activities of the TESL programme.
2. Coordinate curriculum development, programme review and continuous quality improvement.
3. Ensure alignment of PEOs, PLOs, CLOs, teaching activities and assessments.
4. Monitor teaching quality, assessment, moderation and student academic performance.
5. Coordinate course allocation, academic staff workload and programme documentation.
6. Monitor student progression, retention, completion and academic intervention.
7. Coordinate teaching practicum, school placement and related professional activities.
8. Prepare programme reports and documentation for MQA accreditation, audits and academic committees.
9. Engage External Academic Advisers, External Examiners, schools, alumni and other relevant stakeholders.
10. Ensure timely implementation of programme decisions, audit findings and CQI action plans.

Requirements

1. Academic Qualification

PhD in TESL, English Language Education, Applied Linguistics, Education or a related field.

2. Years of Experience

Minimum five years of relevant teaching experience in higher education, preferably in TESL or a related field, with experience in programme coordination, curriculum development and academic quality assurance.
