JOB SUMMARY
Drive the execution of sustainability and ESG integration initiatives across assigned portfolios by translating climate, regulatory, and thematic research into actionable strategies, establishing robust ESG frameworks, policies, and screenings, and engaging senior-level management, investee companies, and external partners to protect the fund's long-term financial returns, manage systemic climate-related risks, and support the transition toward Net Zero 2050.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Formulate and execute strategies to integrate ESG factors and climate-related risk assessments into investment decisions and corporate operations, secure the fund's long-term financial returns and operational resilience.
- Identify emerging sustainability trends and/or developments that affect company's investments, operations and/or performance requiring specific research and monitoring.
- Design, update, and maintain robust sustainability frameworks and oversee the timely, value-add delivery of independent sustainability reviews.
- Establish screenings and action plans to transition the fund's investments toward the Net Zero (Scope 3 Financed Emissions) 2050 target, while building resilience frameworks for broader thematic areas like nature, biodiversity, and social impact.
- Oversee the management of the implementation of decarbonisation action plans and other resiliency initiatives for the identified sectors and/or asset classes.
- Design and execute periodic engagement plans with investee companies, external fund managers, and general partners to monitor their transition progress and ensure pragmatic alignment with company's sustainability governance.
- Cultivate strong relationships with key internal counterparties to drive cross-functional collaboration, assist in managing Board, Investment Panel, and Senior Management expectations, and represent company in external sustainability networks and forums.
- Manage the team's overall developmental plan to foster analytical capabilities and intellectual curiosity, while collaborating on enterprise-wide sustainability upskilling initiatives for key roles and leadership teams.
- Assist in formulating, justifying, and managing the annual departmental budget while actively identifying operational efficiencies to optimise spend.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Pass Malay Language, including the oral test, at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Investments, Sustainability, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government from any local or overseas higher learning institution.
- Professional certifications in Sustainability (e.g., SCR, CESGA, CFA ESG) are highly preferred and considered an added advantage.
- Minimum 16 years of relevant working experience in conducting transaction-level sustainability assessments across various geographies/sectors, developing ESG policies or playbooks, and evaluating sustainable/transition finance parameters.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, specifically in translating complex climate risk data, decarbonisation metrics, and ESG themes into compelling strategic narratives.
- Proven leadership ability with excellent communication, diplomacy, and negotiation skills to manage diverse stakeholder expectations and influence the wider investment ecosystem.
- Skilled in writing and presentations, with the ability to navigate evolving global standards, data gaps, and greenwashing/greenhushing risks under pressure.
