Human Resources Manager, Penang Area, Malaysia
Reporting to the HR Director, this person will oversee the strategic and operational responsibility for a major plant that is growing significantly and will require someone who has strong manufacturing HR expertise.
This person must be an exceptionally strong HR Leader with the ability to push back and influence strongly to manage HR within a complex and highly matrixed environment supporting blue- and white-collar employees.
They must be prepared to roll up their sleeves and lead from the front as a key member of the leadership team in this highly visible role.
Responsibilities:
- This role will appeal to a hands-on HR Business Partner who excels at rolling up their sleeves to manage everything from high-level HR strategy to direct Employee Relations.
- They should have proven experience of managing transportation, canteens and dormitories in a manufacturing environment.
- Oversee a team of 5 Direct Report with an additional 10 indirect HR team members with additional support from COE and relevant agencies
- Strategic Business Partnership: Act as a strong business partner to site leaders, providing strategic advice on HR issues, workforce trends, and workforce planning.
- Organizational Design & Transformation: Diagnose business issues to identify HR implications; partner with Global COEs to design and execute strategies for organizational effectiveness and business transformation.
- Talent Lifecycle Management: Execute all aspects of the talent lifecycle, proactively identifying and analyzing talent issues before they impact the business.
- Talent Acquisition & Leadership Development: Partner with Talent Attraction to hire key talent and develop the next generation of leaders through innovative approaches focused on diversity and inclusion – Experience of Direct labour hires and management is essential
- Change Management: Provide critical support for business reorganizations and the implementation of annual HR programs or policies.
- Data-Driven People Strategy: Leverage data and insights to develop programs that drive business performance and address employee engagement issues.
- Operational Governance: Work with Global HR COEs to provide business input into the development of HR practices, including compensation and incentive programs.
Attributes:
- 10 years plus in significant HR leadership role within an end to end manufacturing environment with Direct Labour.
- Strong experience in a manufacturing or advanced technology environment is essential
- Strong business acumen with the ability to develop insights on global organization and leadership. Technical Savvy & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of government regulations and Personnel and Employment laws.
- Broad understanding of best-in-class HR disciplines and general knowledge of HRIS.

- Comfortable interacting with and persuading senior management in complex situations.
- Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and organize multiple highly detailed tasks.
- University degree in Business or Human Resource Management and beneficial to have additional master's degree in business, HR, or Organizational Development; HR Certification.
