About the Company

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive legal specialist to join our legal team based in Kuala Lumpur. The successful candidate will provide support across legal advisory and contract management functions, including legal and compliance research, drafting and renewing commercial contracts, assisting with corporate secretarial and government matters, and supporting day-to-day legal operations.

This is a in house contract position that work onsite in Trip's office

About the Role

A Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) and admission to the Malaysian Bar or another Commonwealth jurisdiction is required. Proficiency in Mandarin will be considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Commercial contracting and platform support
  • Provide legal support for B2B and B2C commercial contracting across SEA and Oceania, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating terms and conditions, commercial agreements, and platform-related documentation.
  • Support product and platform initiatives by delivering timely, pragmatic legal advice with a focus on efficiency, risk awareness, and business enablement.
  • Regulatory Compliance, Customer Complaints & Risk Mitigation
  • Monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments across SEA and Oceania markets, with particular focus on customer complaint handling frameworks in Malaysia, and Oceania.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable laws, including tourism regulations, digital platform laws, and personal data protection regimes.
  • Regulatory Reporting & Insights
  • Assist in researching and consolidating key legal and regulatory developments (including tourism authority requirements, platform regulations, and PDPA updates) and translating them into actionable business insights.
  • General Legal Support
  • Undertake additional legal tasks and projects as assigned by the legal team, supporting broader business and regulatory priorities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Holds a Law Degree (LLB Hons) and has been called to the Malaysian bar or other commonwealth jurisdictions.
  • 2 – 5 years of post qualifications experience, including private legal practice as well as prior in house counsel experience.
  • Prior experience with a digital commerce, or tech sector is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Malaysian and/or commonwealth legal systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge of corporate and commercial law.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Chinese is an advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Strong communication skills and able to coordinate among stakeholders.
