Insurance Manager – Corporate and Projects | Malaysia

We are seeking an experienced Insurance Manager to manage all insurance-related matters for our vessel-based submarine cable installation projects. You will oversee risk transfer, ensure contractual compliance, liaise with brokers and insurers, manage claims, and provide advisory support to project and senior management teams. This role offers exposure to international offshore projects and the opportunity to lead insurance strategy in a niche, high-impact industry.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide advisory support to management and project teams on risk transfer, insurance strategy, and tender/bidding stages.
  • Develop, implement, and manage insurance programmes for overall Corporate and projects, including marine and vessel coverage.
  • Arrange coverage including Marine Hull & Machinery, Protection & Indemnity (P&I), Construction All Risks (CAR/EAR), Delay in Start-Up (DSU), Marine Cargo and Third Party & Environmental Liability.
  • Review and ensure compliance with insurance clauses in contracts (HR, EPC, charter party, subcontractors) and manage all insurance documentation and studies.
  • Act as the primary liaison with brokers, insurers, and P&I Clubs; negotiate terms and premiums and claims.
  • Conduct risk assessments for corporate HR, vessels, subsea works, cable installation, and operational hazards; recommend mitigation measures.

What you should have:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Maritime Studies, Finance, Law, or Engineering
  • 8-10 years of professional experience in marine insurance, offshore energy, subsea cable or oil & gas projects, including insurance broking or underwriting
  • Strong knowledge of marine and construction insurance lines
  • Proven experience handling complex offshore claims and insurance placements
  • Solid understanding of contractual insurance obligations (EPC contracts, charter party, subcontracting)
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Professional certifications (ACII, ARM) are advantageous
