RED an expanding international M&E consultancy, with a proven track record in low energy design, focused on providing excellent design solutions to clients.
To meet their continued expansion in the design of critical facilities such as data centres, and a desire to expand their core market offering, RED ICT has a requirement for an Associate Security Consultant.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a combination of technology-based security infrastructure design and technical design coordination experience. Ideally experience will have been gained in a consulting engineering practice, ICT and security service organization or related construction industry organization. Multi Tenancy/Co-Location and Hyperscale Data Centre project experience is preferable, but not essential.
As a key member of the existing ICT design team, the successful candidate will work closely with all project design engineering disciplines and relevant project stakeholders in respect of design coordination. Of particular relevance is Low Voltage and MEP design coordination experience.
The role requires that the candidate should be proficient in responding to RFP documents, and will also involve the development of customer requirements and interpretation in the production of written technical specification documents and design drawing coordination.
The successful candidate should be active in marketing and industry networking.
Reporting to the UK leadership team lead, the successful candidate will work from the KL, Malaysia office in close collaboration with RED staff of all relevant specialisms.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The production of security infrastructure design packages, such as, written report documents, drawings, schematics, schedules, technical specifications, procurement packs.
- The running of major design consultancy projects
- Conducting cost and profit diagnosis on projects including feasibility studies and preparation of fee bids
- Reviews status advised by project personnel and external parties and modifies schedules or plans as required.
- Preparing project reports for Management, Client or others.
- Representing RED at technical meetings with customers, professional
- Design teams and contractor teams.
- Supporting the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of the RED Project Delivery Work Book Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective
- Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with, and provides advice to client
- Development of 2D CAD design drawings and 3D Revit models in collaboration with the BIM department. An emphasis upon design coordination and clash detection is important.
- Representing RED ICT at technical meetings with customers, professional design teams and contractor teams
- Ensuring specifications, drawings and calculations meet industry, legal and quality standards
- Observing and adhering to all appropriate best-practice H&S standards in respect of Safety by Design and Engie One Safety Culture
- Taking an holistic view in the selection and application of Security infrastructure design concepts and solutions
- Coordination of Security design with related engineering disciplines, e.g. ICT, electrical and mechanical
- Working towards a timely and successful team output and production
- Developing a clear understanding of client requirements from both a technical and operational standpoint
- Undertaking peer and QA review of drawings (typically cabling systems, containment, cabinet elevation, comms room layout, active network diagrams)
Qualifications / Experiences
- A minimum of 7 years experience in the security industry
- Highly experienced in technical/physical security measures (CCTV, ACS, IDS, HVM, Doors, Walls,
- Experience conducting projects in both public and private sector environments
- Experience in project and programme management
- Experience with RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) stages
- Experience in the production of technical and business reports
- Recognised professional membership/certification (e.g. MSyI, CsyP, CSMP M.ISMI, PSP, CPP)

Skills / Specific Knowledge
- Ability to use to a high competency level, AutoCAD and Bluebeam (production of overlay drawings, schematics and markups)
- Working knowledge of Revit is desirable but not essential
- Navigation and interpretation of Navisworks models desirable, but not essential
- Familiarity with BIM levels and processes
- Understanding of design and construction stages from conception to practical completion and LoD required
- Good working knowledge of MS Office applications Word, Excel, Visio etc. Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software
- Good understanding of building design standards/regulations/codes and relevant Security systems certification standards
- Ability to prioritise own workload, work to deadlines
- Act in an ethical manner and follows the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines
- Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation
- Technical ownership of work packages, ability to problem solve
- Good communication, presentation and engagement skills
