About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Network Planning Manager to lead network planning, solution design, and technical solutioning for MTel World's NSP/ISP business. The role has a strong presales focus, covering technical solution design, proposal architecture, BOQ preparation, and RFI/RFP responses, while also providing technical oversight during project deployment and handover.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in telco, ISP/NSP, or systems integration environments and be confident working with customers, vendors, sales teams, and project delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
Presales – Primary Focus
- Lead end-to-end network solution design for WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, Metro-E, DWDM/transport, structured cabling, and ELV/telecom systems.
- Develop technical solutions for tenders, RFIs, and RFPs across telco, government, enterprise, and hospitality accounts.
- Translate customer requirements into technical proposals, network architecture diagrams, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Own the technical sections of tender submissions, including compliance matrices, solution write-ups, capacity calculations, and equipment selection.
- Work closely with sales and business development teams to develop technically sound and commercially competitive proposals.
- Engage and negotiate with equipment vendors and subcontractors to validate solution feasibility, pricing, and delivery timelines.
- Present and defend proposed technical solutions to customers, consultants, and tender evaluation panels.
- Provide technical costing input and risk assessments to support bid/no-bid and pricing decisions.
- Stay updated on network planning standards, telco interconnect practices, and emerging technologies including SD-WAN, 5G transport, and fibre access.
Post-Sales Oversight – Secondary Focus
- Provide technical oversight during the handover from presales to project delivery teams, ensuring design intent is properly carried through to implementation.
- Review as-built network designs, commissioning results, and testing documentation against the approved solution.
- Act as the technical escalation point for design-related issues during deployment, testing, and commissioning.
- Support project teams with vendor coordination and technical assessment of design or scope changes.
- Identify potential design gaps and provide recommendations to minimize rework, implementation issues, and non-conformance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in network design, planning, solution architecture, or presales within a telco, ISP/NSP, or systems integration environment.
- Proven experience preparing technical proposals, BOQs, compliance matrices, and technical responses for tenders and RFPs.
- Experience handling B2G, telco, enterprise, or hospitality network projects will be an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of router and SD-WAN platforms such as Cisco, Sangfor, Aruba, and Palo Alto.
- Good knowledge of switching technologies, including Allied Telesis and Extreme.
- Experience with Metro-E, DWDM, and transport technologies, including platforms such as Infinera and Ciena, will be highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of network architecture, capacity planning, technical solutioning, and network implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage vendor negotiations and coordinate effectively across sales, presales, delivery, and project teams.
- Confident in presenting and defending technical solutions to customers, consultants, and senior stakeholders.
- Own transport and willingness to travel to project sites when required.
- Relevant vendor certifications in SD-WAN, transport, DWDM, or related technologies will be an added advantage.
