Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive Preventive Maintenance (PM) Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs that maximize equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and improve asset performance. The role supports uninterrupted manufacturing operations by driving maintenance planning, reliability engineering, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance within a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Plan and manage annual, monthly, and weekly maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor equipment reliability, maintenance compliance, and asset performance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions to eliminate recurring failures.
  • Maintain equipment history, maintenance records, and CMMS/SAP PM data.
  • Coordinate maintenance shutdowns to minimize production disruption.
  • Monitor spare parts requirements and work with Purchasing to ensure material availability.
  • Manage contractors and service providers to ensure safe and timely maintenance execution.
  • Track maintenance KPIs and recommend improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with DOSH, BOMBA, DOE, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, and company safety requirements.
  • Support equipment upgrades, commissioning, and facility improvement projects.
  • Drive Lean Maintenance, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 –7 years of experience in preventive maintenance, maintenance planning, reliability engineering, or manufacturing maintenance.
  • Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience using CMMS, SAP PM, or equivalent maintenance management systems is an advantage

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies.
  • Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of equipment reliability, asset management, and maintenance KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, Equipment Availability).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis (RCA) skills.
  • Experience coordinating maintenance shutdowns and contractor management.
  • Familiarity with spare parts planning and inventory management.
  • Good understanding of Malaysian statutory and safety requirements (DOSH, BOMBA, DOE, Suruhanjaya Tenaga).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and BI/Analytics tools.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to drive Lean Maintenance, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
