Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Psychiatrist (Child & Adolescent) role based in Johor Baharu, offered as a flexible locum or consulting specialist contract. The psychiatrist will provide diagnostic assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing psychiatric care for children and adolescents with a range of mental health conditions. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and monitoring medications, offering psychoeducation to families, and collaborating closely with pediatricians, psychologists, and other team members. The role also involves maintaining accurate clinical documentation, participating in case discussions, and contributing to care pathways and service development. The psychiatrist will ensure care is delivered in line with current clinical guidelines, ethical standards, and local regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Medicine and Psychiatry, with the ability to integrate medical and psychiatric considerations in child and adolescent care.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of developmental, behavioral, and emotional disorders.
  • Clinical experience in Psychiatric Care and Mental Health, with skills in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to work effectively within a pediatric-focused environment, coordinating with pediatricians and psychologists to provide holistic care.
  • Recognized medical degree and specialist qualification in Psychiatry; formal training or certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry is highly desirable.
  • Current professional registration and eligibility to practice as a psychiatrist in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Strong communication skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build rapport with children, adolescents, and their families.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, and adherence to clinical and ethical standards.
