About the Role
Lead and manage the end-to-end procurement function to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality sourcing of materials, equipment, and services. Develop and execute purchasing strategies that support operational efficiency, cost optimization, and compliance with organizational and ISO standards.
Responsibilities
- Procurement & Sourcing
- Lead the sourcing and procurement of raw materials, equipment, and services from qualified and reliable suppliers
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to achieve optimal value and cost savings
- Ensure timely procurement to support uninterrupted plant operations
- Strategy & Process Improvement
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives
- Drive cost optimization initiatives, supplier rationalization, and process efficiency improvements
- Identify opportunities for digitalization and automation within purchasing processes
- Supplier Management
- Evaluate, select, and develop suppliers based on quality, cost competitiveness, and reliability
- Monitor supplier performance (delivery, quality, service level) in compliance with ISO and internal standards
- Build strong supplier relationships and manage contract performance
- Inventory & Store Management
- Oversee store operations to maintain optimal inventory levels
- Ensure proper inventory planning, stock control, and minimization of excess or obsolete stock
- Collaborate with production and planning teams to ensure supply continuity
- Compliance & Governance
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, procedures, and ISO requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit readiness
- Identify and mitigate procurement risks
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, manage, and develop the purchasing team to achieve departmental KPIs
- Provide coaching, training, and performance management
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work culture
Qualifications
- Possess Degree in Business Administration, Economics or any related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement/purchasing within a manufacturing environment
- Experience in both local and international sourcing is an advantage
- Proven experience in managing and leading a team
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Good understanding of supply chain and inventory management
- Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement systems (ERP knowledge is an added advantage)
- Willing to be based in Banting (near KLIA, Sepang)
