Job Description

We are now hiring Regional Component Analyst Engineer to be placed across Plexus Sites

Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Technical Review - Review component and customer's datasheets, military, medical, industrial, networking, airspace as required to determine component attributes. Document all required component attributes in the corresponding Plexus systems with a basic understanding of the definition of each attribute. Classify components into predefined component types based on physical attributes in Plexus Systems. Escalate as needed to acquire timely and accurate data. Will be the designated part checkers to ensure all parts are built in accordance to SOP & quality requirements prior to releasing parts
  • Physical Part Modeling - Using 3rd angle projection views from component datasheets, create a 3D model of the component. Incorporate appropriate tolerances per datasheet or Plexus guidelines. Incorporate component package construction, including lead form and package materials into the 3D model. Maintain data integrity using both Imperial and metric units of measure, especially during dimensional unit conversions.
  • Component System Administration - Verify, create and maintain Manufacturers Part Numbers in Plexus systems. Determine a complete manufacturer part number from the ordering information on a component datasheet including package type and available media types (tape and reel, bulk, etc.).
  • Technical Support - Lead and be the focal contact point for request coming from Program Management, Materials, Documentation Control/Configuration Engineers, Receiving, Quality and Manufacturing through component datasheet review, interpretation, storage, and maintenance of component-level data within the corresponding Plexus Systems.
  • Continuous Improvement & Process Ownership - Responsible to drive continuous improvement activities for the team eg: Increase part build/release efficiency and driving towards defined team metrics. Owning SOP/Best Practices while working closely with manufacturing, material, quality and engineering team, understanding process requirements and driving process changes as required. Providing inputs to engineering on potential improvements for the Global Part Library tool
  • Coaching & Mentoring - Mentor existing and new component analyst in adherence to the structured training module. Owning training modules and making necessary changes as the team/process evolves.

Additional Accountabilities:

  • Feedback invalid manufacturer part numbers to Configuration Engineers or Document Control Coordinator.
  • Update all attribute data that affect the MPN in the corresponding Plexus systems upon receipt of Product Change Notification (PCN).
  • Mentor and train individuals on the applicable processes, procedures and software applications.
  • Report and monitor metrics applicable to the component analyst department.
  • Occasional travel may be required to meet the needs of the business (estimated 1-2%).
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or equivalent with over 3 years working experience in related field
  • Higher Diploma in Electrical & Electronics engineering or equivalent with over 8 years working experience in related field with a will be considered
  • Experience in either CAD CAM process or component engineering will be an added advantage
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key job accountabilities may be considered.


Other Qualifications:

  • Good Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis Skills
  • Familiarity with Industry Standards (IPC, JEDEC, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Product Data Packages (BOM, AML, CAD, etc.)
  • Familiarity with component package types, lead forms, polarity, value, tolerance
