ROLE OVERVIEW
The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all tax related decisions and activities in the organization. You will help us stay tax-compliant and up-to-date on new tax laws.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tax Compliance
- Assist on Holding company tax compliance work and advisory role to the region.
- Maintain the complete tax status for the region, including name and contact of tax consultant, amount of tax credit available, etc.
- Monitor and ensure tax compliance (direct and indirect tax) within AHSEA Group of Companies.
- Ensure accuracy and timely submission of tax return (direct tax and indirect tax) coupled with timely payment of tax liability.
- Keep track of the tax refund status and follow up to ensure timely set-off or refund as relevant.
- Facilitate in obtaining final tax clearance and closure of tax files where entities are closed as part of Group reorganization.
Transfer Pricing
- Review and ensure transfer pricing documentation reports are available for all companies within the Group, covering all related party transactions.
- Regularly review and ensure adherence to the TP regulations in the respective country and Asahi TP Policy.
- Provide advice and resolve all transfer pricing related matters from the perspective of TP regulation, Custom Duties regulation and costing.
Withholding Tax
- Advise on Withholding Tax matters including Double Tax Agreements (DTA) with respective countries.
- Monitoring and ensuring WHT credit is appropriately recorded and accounted in tax computations.
Tax Investigation and Tax Audit
Assist Companies within the Group on all tax investigation or audit matters with a view to drive and minimize tax exposure, including sourcing of support from consultant and tax lawyers as relevant.
Reporting
Support in tax reporting lead by HQ which includes Country by Country Reporting (CbCR), Master File, Japanese Controlled Foreign Companies Rules (JCFC), OECD BEPS Pillar 2
Others
- Make recommendation on tax aspect of strategic project during planning and execution.
- Identify tax planning opportunities, manage tax risk issues and propose feasible resolutions.
- Review all tax clauses in agreements and advise the tax implication
- Advise on SST, Sugar Tax, GST or VAT and relevant exemptions as applicable, for Companies within the Group.
- Keeping the team updated on new tax law and regulations within the region and assessing impact/exposure to AHSEA Group, if any.
- Optimize tax efficiency within tax laws and regulation framework of regional entities.
- Establish good working relationship with the Tax Authorities (Inland Revenue Board, Customs Department etc.)
QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance.
- 5+ years of experience of professional tax experience with minimum 3 years of experience in Big 4 audit, in the tax department.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Professional qualifications (ACCA/CPA/MICPA/ICAEW) will be an added bonus.
