Objective
- The Resident Competent Electrical Engineer (132kV) is responsible for providing dedicated on-site electrical engineering leadership and technical authority for all high-voltage and plant electrical systems within a cement manufacturing facility. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, and development of the 132kV incoming supply infrastructure and associated MV/LV distribution network that supports continuous cement production operations.
- The role holder acts as the site's designated competent person for all 132kV HV electrical activities and serves as the principal interface between plant operations, maintenance teams, NLDC, and external contractors for all electrical engineering matters.
Main Job Responsibilities
- Act as the on-site Competent Person for the 132kV receiving substation, including all switching, isolation, and permit-to-work authority.
- Manage and oversee safe operation of the 132kV/6.6kV main transformers, HV switchgear, busbars, protection relays, and associated auxiliary systems.
- Coordinate planned and unplanned outages with the management and NLDC to minimise production downtime and align with kiln and mill shutdown schedules.
Managerial (Team/Group Responsibilities):
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to instrumentation systems, including drawings, manuals, and records of maintenance activities.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain continuous production.
Organizational (Organizational Responsibilities):
- Report to the Manager - Electrical
- 5S – Adherence and participation in 5S activities.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Possess minimum 132kV JK4 Competency Certificate by Suruhanjaya Tenaga
- Have 3 to 5 years of working experience in electrical within the cement industry is preferred
- Proven experience working on 132kV HV systems with recognised competency authorisation at 132kV level.
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations in the industrial setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
