Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect to take ownership of our enterprise-scale hybrid cloud environment. This senior role requires a professional with deep, hands-on expertise in Wintel platforms (Windows Server, VMware) and modern public clouds (Azure & AWS). You will be responsible for designing resilient, secure, and automated infrastructure, leading critical migration projects, and serving as the ultimate technical authority for our hybrid systems.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Architecture & Design
Architect, implement, and govern robust hybrid cloud solutions bridging Azure IaaS/PaaS, AWS, and on-premises data centres.
Design and optimise core cloud services (Compute, Networking, Storage, Kubernetes) with a focus on security, performance, and cost-efficiency.
Develop and own the technical roadmap for infrastructure modernisation and cloud adoption.
2. Wintel, Virtualisation & Storage Leadership
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for the enterprise Windows Server stack (Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, Clustering, RDS).
Administer, troubleshoot, and optimise large-scale VMware vSphere and vSAN environments.
Manage enterprise-grade storage (NetApp/Pure/Dell) and data protection systems (Veeam/NetBackup).
3. Project Leadership: Migration & Modernisation
Lead the full lifecycle of complex cloud migration and modernisation programmes, from assessment to execution.
Define migration strategies (lift-and-shift, re-platform, refactor) and ensure on-time, risk-managed delivery.
Collaborate with application and security teams to ensure seamless workload transitions.
4. Operational Excellence: Security, Backup & Disaster Recovery
Design and validate comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans for hybrid infrastructure.
Implement and enforce security best practices across identity (RBAC), data, and network layers.
Ensure all systems comply with internal security policies and external audit requirements.
5. Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Champion the adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible for consistent, auditable deployments.
Develop advanced automation via PowerShell/Python to eliminate manual operations and improve reliability.
Create and maintain meticulous technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
6. Technical Leadership & Mentorship
Act as the final point of escalation for critical infrastructure issues, providing expert-level troubleshooting.
Mentor and upskill infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Manage relationships with key technology vendors and service providers.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience:A minimum of10 yearsin enterprise infrastructure roles, with at least5 yearsspecialising in designing and managingMicrosoft AzureandAWSenvironments.
Core Technical Mastery:
Wintel & Virtualisation:Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server (2016-2022), Active Directory, and VMware vSphere.
Cloud Platforms:Deep, hands-on experience architecting solutions with Azure and AWS, including networking and security.
Storage & Data Protection:Proven experience with enterprise storage (NetApp/Pure) and backup solutions (Veeam/NetBackup).
Automation & DevOps:High proficiency inPowerShellandTerraform. Practical experience withAnsibleand a strong IaC mindset.
Professional Skills:Exceptional problem-solving, stakeholder management, and communication skills in English. Proven ability to lead complex technical projects from conception to completion. A track record of mentorship and technical leadership.
