Job Description

The Senior HyFlex Learning Designer is responsible for partnering with faculties to transform teaching, learning and assessment through evidence-based learning design, HyFlex, Agentic AI, personalised learning and emerging educational technologies. The role works closely with academics to redesign modules, integrate active learning pedagogies, develop AI-enabled learning experiences, and enhance student engagement across the complete One Learning Arc (before, during and after class). He/she also contributes to institutional innovation, faculty capability development and continuous improvement through learning analytics, educational research and scalable learning design frameworks.

KEY RESULT AREAS / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner with schools and faculties to redesign modules using HyFlex principles, active learning pedagogies, and AI-enhanced learning experiences that improve student engagement and learning outcomes.

• Collaborate closely with discipline experts to design learner-centred experiences, translating programme learning outcomes into effective learning activities, formative assessments, and authentic learning journeys.

• Design and develop faculty-specific HyFlex learning frameworks, templates, and learning pathways.

• Design learning activities and assessments that appropriately integrate Agentic AI to support preparation, practice, feedback, reflection, and personalised learning.

• Develop and implement AI-supported formative assessment strategies, including adaptive learning activities, reflective learning, case variations, oral defence preparation, and personalised feedback approaches.

• Advise and support academics in the responsible, ethical, and effective use of AI technologies in teaching, learning, and assessment, in accordance with institutional policies and best practices.

• Design learning experiences that effectively incorporate active learning pedagogies such as Project-Based Learning, Team-Based Learning (TBL), Problem-Based Learning (PBL), Case-Based Learning, Clinical Simulation, Lab-Based Learning, Studio-Based Learning, and other discipline-specific approaches.

• Review and continuously enhance existing modules and learning experiences using student feedback, learning analytics, educational research, and evidence-informed practice to improve learning effectiveness and student success.

• Collaborate with Taylor's Digital to leverage learning technologies, AI platforms, and digital learning tools, and contribute to interpreting learning analytics and recommending improvements to learning design.

• Identify opportunities to improve student engagement, participation, and personalised learning by analysing learning data and recommending appropriate pedagogical interventions.

• Support the Head of e-Learning Academy in developing reusable learning design resources, HyFlex templates, AI implementation guides, and best practice exemplars to support consistent adoption across faculties.

• Conduct academic consultations, workshops, and capability-building programmes to strengthen staff competency in HyFlex learning, active learning pedagogies, AI-enhanced teaching, and assessment transformation.

• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head of e-Learning Academy or higher management.

KEY COMPETENCIES

The Senior HyFlex Learning Designer will be expected to acquire/demonstrate the following competencies:

• Proficiency in learning technologies and educational software used to design, develop and deliver HyFlex, AI-enhanced and digitally enabled learning experiences.

• Strong understanding of learning sciences, learning design, instructional design, learning experience design, and evidence-based pedagogies applicable across diverse higher education disciplines.

• Sound knowledge of HyFlex Learning principles, active learning pedagogies, formative assessment strategies, and learner-centred curriculum design.

• Ability to design and integrate Agentic AI, personalised learning approaches, and emerging educational technologies to enhance student learning while promoting responsible AI practices.

• Understanding of learning analytics and the ability to interpret learner engagement data to inform continuous improvement of teaching, learning and assessment.

• Strong project management, planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple learning design projects and deliver high-quality outcomes within agreed timelines.

• Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills to effectively consult, collaborate and build partnerships with academics, faculties and institutional stakeholders.

• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking and innovation skills to develop practical, scalable and discipline-appropriate learning solutions.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Minimum Qualification

• The position is open to candidates with learning design experience, and experience in education (tutoring, teaching, etc.) is a plus.

• Possess a recognised master's degree (degree holder might be considered based on their background) in any relevant field, for example: Education, English/TESL, Instructional Design and Technology, Multimedia Design and Development, discipline-based (Computer Science, Software Engineering, etc).

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

• Sound knowledge of learning design, instructional design, learning experience design, and learning sciences in higher education.

• Strong understanding of HyFlex Learning principles, active learning pedagogies, formative assessment, and learner-centred curriculum design.

• Knowledge of Agentic AI, personalised learning, learning analytics, and emerging educational technologies that support teaching and learning.

• Understanding of responsible AI practices, academic integrity, and institutional policies relating to AI-enabled teaching and assessment.

• Knowledge of digital learning platforms, educational technologies, and AI tools used to support learning design and student engagement.

• Awareness of quality assurance standards, curriculum design principles, and regulatory requirements applicable to higher education programmes.

• Excellent learning design and instructional design skills to develop engaging, learner-centred, and outcomes-based learning experiences. • Strong consultation, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills when working with academics, faculties, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Effective communication and presentation skills, with excellent written and spoken English.

• Strong project management, planning, and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and meet agreed timelines.

• Analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate learning challenges, interpret learning analytics, and recommend evidence-based improvements.

• Ability to design and integrate AI-enhanced learning activities, formative assessments, and active learning strategies appropriate to different disciplines.
