About the Role

The candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing interior design projects from preliminary concept stage to completion. This role involves coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, managing project timelines, ensuring compliance with regulations, and developing innovative designs aligned with project objectives and client expectations. It exposes the Interior Designer to all stages of a project. Minimum work experience of 6 years.

There are options to join either our Kuala Lumpur or Johor Offices.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the general design, interior design input and technical management of the projects
  • Complete the day-to-day executive work including design presentations, project management, contract administration and project correspondences
  • Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, managing project timelines, ensuring compliance with regulations, and developing innovative designs aligned with project objectives and client expectations
  • Responsible to the Project Director/Associate Director and will liaise with the Associate/Architect and 3D Department, for projects where the Architect of the building is AWP
  • Reports to ID Director on all design and technical matters.
  • CAD or manual drafting of sketch and detailed construction drawings to comply with the various relevant authorities requirements.
  • Liaising with vendors/suppliers representatives for ID materials, finishes, FF&E specifications.
  • Attend Project/ Site Meetings and Inspection
  • Identify and record any product quality problems, to initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels and implement that solution
  • Act as the primary point for technical leadership on projects and act as a mentor to younger designers when needed
  • Evaluate and comment on the contractor's construction programme and resource planning and establish the expenditure control system and the limits of authority to order variations to contracts.
  • Perform the following tasks as required by the projects: Liaison with Client and Consultants, site inspection, Attend consultant and Site meeting, Minutes of Meeting, Material Specifications and Schedule of Finishes, FF&E cut sheets, images and perspective (with the assistance of 3D department)

Qualifications

  • Degree in Interior Design or related field, with relevant professional certifications being an advantage.
  • Minimum 6 years local or international project experience

Required Skills

  • Strong skills in Interior Design and Interior Architectural Design.
  • Experience in Project Management.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Design flare, strong in design presentation (visual and communication) and technical knowledge in building services
  • Knowledge of Software Development and Integration as it applies to architectural tools and systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD design software and technology relevant to the architecture industry.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse teams and clients.
  • Strong Team oriented interior designer for coordination work across project teams internally and externally.

Preferred Skills

  • Relevant professional certifications.
  • Experience in handling diverse projects across varying scales.
  • Prior experience in workplace design, institutional, hospitality.
  • Knowledge of Local Code Compliance.
  • Proficiency in Revit design software and technology relevant to the architecture industry.
  • Experience working within an Architecture or Interior Design consultancy environment, with prior experience in a consultancy firm preferred.
