What you'll be doing
- Review/draft and provide advice on all legal related matters, documents, agreements, legal opinions, etc
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (HQ, regional and local) including providing strategic legal advice, attending meetings, calls and coordinating with all stakeholders
- Handle RFP of external counsels - source, negotiate, prepare summary for approval
- Liaise, follow-up, monitor and conduct meetings/calls with external counsels on legal matters
- Review, check and endorse legal invoices, arrange for approvals for payments
- Record and maintain contract register and files for own matters
- Conduct legal training to internal stakeholders as required including preparing training materials
- Assist Legal Director to oversee and manage the legal team members by providing guidance, review and check team's work, group discussions/training on legal issues
- Such other legal/related matters requested by Legal Director from time to time
About you:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Master of Laws (LLM) degree and called to the Bar (Malaysia or any Commonwealth country).
- Preferably with 7-12 years of PQE with at least 2-3 years in legal practice and at least 3-5 years as in-house counsel.
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Good drafting skills & good knowledge of commercial law with commercial mindset and able to provide practical solutions to the business.
- Good English language skills. Knowledge of written and verbal Mandarin is an advantage.
- Experience in a multinational, multicultural corporation or have global/regional exposure or cross border experience will be an advantage.
- Able to work in a fast-paced business environment and within tight deadlines
- Possess strong leadership skills, and capable of engaging with all types of stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commercial acumen.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and with different technology tools.
