Job Description

Key Responsibilities

1. Mechanical Design & Engineering Development

  • Responsible for the mechanical design and development of automated machinery, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, and customized automation solutions according to customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop new mechanical design concepts and propose suitable design solutions based on customer specifications and project requirements.
  • Design and develop mechanical mechanisms including robotic arm integration, precision motion systems, conveyor systems, pressing mechanisms, fixtures, tooling, and other automation modules.
  • Perform mechanical design for automation systems involving sensors, actuators, pneumatic components, motors, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Conduct structural analysis of machine components and perform design verification, testing, and validation activities.
  • Participate in product benchmarking, feasibility studies, and preparation of technical development specifications.

2. Mechanical Drawing & Documentation

  • Create and release detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings for machine assemblies, fabrication parts, and mechanical components using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent CAD software.
  • Review and verify drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications to ensure accuracy for fabrication and assembly processes.
  • Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), component specifications, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Prepare design manuals, operation instructions, production procedures, and process control instructions for completed projects.
  • Maintain proper filing and documentation of engineering records according to company procedures and quality standards.

3. Automation System Integration & Improvement

  • Support the design and integration of robotic arms, sensors, vision systems, actuators, and automation modules into semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop and improve mechanical systems for automated machines to meet specific customer requirements and production needs.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, production, and process engineering teams to ensure successful machine development and integration.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical design issues during assembly, testing, and production stages, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support machine modification, optimization, and continuous improvement activities.

4. Cross-Functional & Customer Collaboration

  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to understand technical requirements and provide effective mechanical design solutions.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, purchasing, and engineering teams to ensure design feasibility, fabrication requirements, and component availability.
  • Perform other engineering and design-related duties assigned by the immediate superior.

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other 2D/3D CAD design software.
  • Strong knowledge of automation machine design, mechanical mechanisms, robotic arm applications, sensors, actuators, and electro-pneumatic systems.
  • Experience in designing semiconductor manufacturing equipment, precision machinery, or automated production systems.
  • Familiar with mechanical components such as motors, bearings, linear guides, cylinders, grippers, conveyors, and motion control mechanisms.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, SEMI standards, and other relevant industrial standards.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and adaptability to changing project requirements.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5–6 years of relevant experience in automation machinery, semiconductor equipment, robotics, or precision engineering industries preferred.
  • Candidates with full automation machine design experience, robotic arm integration, sensor applications, and semiconductor equipment development experience are highly preferred.
  • Proficient in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and Chinese for effective communication with international teams and business partners.
