Senior/Staff/Sr. Staff Digital Hardware Design Engineer (Plexus Design Center)

Responsibilities:

• As a Digital Hardware Design Engineer at Plexus Engineering Solutions (Penang Design Center), you will design and develop electronic hardware for products across a wide range of industries. This role collaborates with talented software, mechanical, quality, manufacturing and test engineers throughout all phases of the product development life cycle - from idea and conceptualize through requirements, design, and development to manufacturing transition and into the market.
• Architect and design electronic digital circuitry for industrial, healthcare/life sciences, and aerospace/defense market sectors
• Utilize schematic capture tools, define printed circuit board (PCB) constraints and layer stack up, and oversee PCB layout routing work.
• Implement good design practices for Signal Integrity and EMI mitigation
• Analyze circuit designs with simulation tools
• Take detailed measurements of hardware using standard electrical measurement tools including but not limited to oscilloscopes, multi-meters, and logic analyzers to assess circuit performance and inform design improvements
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills in PCBA debugging/troubleshooting of typical issues encountered within the product development cycle
• Collaborate with a team of other digital, analog, software, mechanical, and system engineers to review and improve hardware designs

• Masters/Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is required. Consideration will be given to candidates with other degrees that have E&E overlap - (e.g. biomedical / mechatronics engineering etc.) as long as strong experience/ background in electronics hardware design can be demonstrated.
• Industry experience requirements vary depending on the level applied for.
• For Senior level and above - Minimum 5 years of experience is required.
• For Staff Level 7+ years of experience is required
• Experience in embedded systems design (microcontroller/microprocessor) and interfacing these systems to peripherals over suitable digital communication protocols. (UART/SPI/I2C/USB etc..)
• Experience in high speed digital interface design, e.g. high speed memory (DDR2/DDR3), PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet is preferred
• Experience with Signal Integrity simulation and analysis is an added advantage
• Experience with FPGA design and HDL languages (i.e. VHDL, System Verilog) to model hardware behavior is an added advantage.
