Job Description
Working within the Engineering Design team based in Kuala Lumpur, the role is responsible for supporting the production of high-quality process modules for the Oil & Gas industry. The candidate will be part of a dynamic team providing Aveva E3D and Tekla modelling support for multidisciplinary engineering projects.
This position requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles along with advanced 3D modelling and drafting capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Understand project scope of work and client requirements related to the Structural Engineering discipline.
- Develop and maintain 3D models using Aveva E3D and Tekla.
- Generate 2D drawings from 3D models and drafts.
- Coordinate with other disciplines throughout the project lifecycle, including IDC reviews, gathering inputs, and supporting interdisciplinary deliverables.
- Conduct internal 3D model reviews in accordance with project scope and procedures.
- Participate in engineering review sessions such as Hook-Up Reviews, Installation Reviews, and Model Reviews.
- Liaise with Senior Engineers on all work-related activities.
- Coordinate with the Lead Designer on drafting and modelling activities.
- Collaborate with engineers from other disciplines to ensure alignment of project deliverables.
- Interpret engineering requirements, specifications, and design documents accurately to produce quality deliverables.
- Perform single-discipline and multi-discipline checks, verifications, and reviews of design deliverables produced by Designers.
- Maintain familiarity with drawings and deliverables from other disciplines, including piping layouts and structural drawings.
- Work independently on day-to-day design activities with minimal supervision and proactively resolve technical issues.
- Provide guidance and support to other disciplines to ensure alignment with Structural Design philosophies.
- Review and interpret vendor drawings and documents for integration into project deliverables.
- Prepare accurate estimates for structural bulk materials using reliable and up-to-date project data.
- Ensure compliance with HSE legislation and company HSE policies.
- Support other departments and perform additional duties as required by business needs or directed by the Operations Manager.
Requirements
- Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
- Alternatively, possession of a high school certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Certification with the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT) is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry within Civil/Structural disciplines, including offshore and/or onshore projects.
- Experience working with EPC contractors is preferred.
- Exposure to fabrication activities is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of structural framing concepts and engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience with engineering software such as Aveva E3D, Tekla, and AutoCAD.
- Strong working knowledge of Aveva E3D Draft and Tekla Draft.
- Excellent knowledge of international Oil & Gas industry standards.
- Familiarity with international engineering codes and standards such as API, WSD, LRFD, NORSOK, DNV, ISO, etc.
- Effective communication skills with internal project teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Good engineering knowledge related to process modules, FPSO topsides, FPU topsides, fixed platforms, and onshore structures.
- Willingness and ability to travel to fabrication yards for short-term assignments as required by project needs.
- Proficiency in Tekla and Aveva E3D is mandatory.
