Position Summary
The Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and enhancing the company's global computing infrastructure. This role requires expertise in Windows and Linux operating systems, Active Directory, Azure/Entra, Office365, VMWare, Backup, and Cloud technologies. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience with automation, scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent), and SQL administration to streamline system management and troubleshooting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create the Architecture; implement, configure, and support all enterprise computing systems globally.
- Create standards and documentation for the Global computing environments.
- Participate in creating and following the directives in the Infrastructure Strategic plan.
- Adhere to all Service Level Agreements established with the user community.
- Create reports and establish operational guidelines for the Global Computing Environments.
- Create automated monitoring to alert Systems Administrators and Service Desk staff of disruptions of service.
- Participate in vendor management under the direction of the department manager.
- Architect, implement, and support virtual and standalone server and storage solutions.
- Benchmark, evaluate and make recommendations for the selection of server and storage management software and hardware products.
- Develop and implement business continuity practices for server and storage management.
- Monitor server and storage performance, diagnose server issues, and perform emergency and scheduled maintenance.
- Provide support to operations relating to server and storage administration problems.
- Maintain server and storage configurations to provide performance monitoring/tuning of enterprise environments.
- Keep the Information Systems staff and customers informed of the status and resolution of issues; update the Service Desk software with resolutions and status.
- Participate in strategic initiatives by performing technical project activities.
- Evaluate server system and storage upgrades and management software patches.
- Prepare monthly status reports (or implement web-based reports) quantitatively reporting server and storage capacity, performance and uptime.
- Responsible for securing server and storage resources including password maintenance, new user logon and setup, and data protection procedures.
- Create and maintain automated systems and procedures for storage and server operations.
- Assist Service Desk staff in streamlining daily operations.
- Coordinate with user community scheduling times and user procedures necessary for server and storage system upgrades and/or maintenance.
- Work to minimize downtime impact on users through accurate planning of scheduled downtimes and quick problem resolution for unscheduled downtimes.
- Follow the established standards for writing and documenting projects and server and storage configurations.
- Contribute to the development of new standards and/or the modification of existing standards.
- Participate in the 24/7 department on-call program.
- Work on special assignments as they arise.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems
- Strong knowledge of Office 365 environments
- Experience with PowerShell and using scripting to automate configuration management
- Experience with automation platforms such as SCORCH, MoveIT Automate, VMWare Orchestrator
- Experience with Azure cloud services
- Experience with DFS, CIFS, and print services
- Experience with VDI technologies. Preferably RDS and Horizon
- Experience with MSSQL and basic MSSQL management functions
- Strong knowledge in supporting enterprise backup solutions and troubleshooting backup issues
- Strong knowledge of data center technologies; Virtualization, Storage, Servers
- Understanding or experience supporting .Net application servers
- Knowledge of budget reductions, standardized processes, and operational automation.

Minimum Qualifications, Education & Experience
Must be at least 18 years of age
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related IT field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in server/user administration, virtualization and storage in a global enterprise environment
- Microsoft certification preferred
- Strong experience in virtual/physical server and storage technologies
- Experience in developing and implementing business continuity and disaster recovery practices
- Experience in data backup technologies
- Experience planning and leading global small to medium scale server related projects
