As a Software Engineering Manager within the Design Creation and Debug Group, you can expect to work on PSG's FPGA Debug Environment Tools such as SignalTap and System Console, and Nios V embedded software development stack consisting of drivers, baremetal HAL, BSP Generator, embedded build environment and other tools. The goal of this team is to make implementing powerful embedded hardware systems a straightforward and enjoyable task from design creation through debugging and performance optimization. The team is responsible for the full stack of these tools GUI, model and OS specific device drivers.
We have the fortune of interacting in the highly dynamic space encompassing programmable hardware design, embedded system creation and embedded software development designing tools and infrastructure to empower design engineers in all three realms.
Our work varies from user experience to software architecture with plenty of opportunity to play anywhere in-between. We've assembled an energetic team of quality people and are looking for an experienced software engineering manager to help with the effort.
As the Software Engineering Manager in this position, you will need to have excellent project management skills with specific experience in leading a team of software engineers to work on complex desktop application development. Working within our matrix organization, you will need to work with respective project owners and technical leads to develop thorough understanding of full suite of projects, and work with our stakeholders to ensure on-time successful delivery of committed deliverables. On people management, you are expected to work closely with your team members to understand their career aspiration, create and execute development plans to help your team members to further develop their strengths or interests.
This position will have direct influence on our organization's success and the adoption of our products, with responsibilities including but not limited to:


  • Work with stakeholders to understand each projects key objectives and participate in scoping and development of upcoming projects

  • Lead developers across software and embedded engineering to ensure we develop design flows that meet our customers needs

  • Coordinate with remote counterparts on delineation of work across multiple teams spread across different timezones

  • Provide coaching assistance to team members as part of their career development

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering or equivalent and 8+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Experience in leading a team of software engineers to work on embedded software and/or desktop software deliverables.

  • Knowledge in software development lifecycle and software project planning

  • Familiarity in software testing, build and release, DevOps is a plus

  • Familiarity with FPGA and embedded systems design flows is a plus

  • Familiarity with Nios II, RISC-V or ARM-based embedded software development environments is a plus

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proven ability to influence across organization boundaries

Working Model
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
