Job Description

Job Purpose

To supervise the installation, perform commissioning, inspection, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance of residential Solar PV systems while ensuring full compliance with SEDA, Energy Commission (EC), and company quality and safety standards. The technician will support installations, troubleshooting, customer handovers, and documentation to deliver safe, high-quality, first-time-right installation experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installations of residential Solar PV systems in accordance with approved engineering drawings and company SOPs.
  • Supervise installations of PV modules, mounting structures, DC/AC cabling, inverters, isolators, protection devices, and monitoring equipment.
  • Verify installation against approved Single Line Diagram (SLD) and technical proposal.
  • Perform testing, commissioning and system verification using appropriate test equipment.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) of Solar PV systems.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical and mechanical faults, inverter alarms and monitoring issues.
  • Assist in technical site surveys and assess installation feasibility and safety risks.
  • Ensure compliance with SEDA, Energy Commission (EC), TNB and company requirements.
  • Strictly comply with HSSE requirements, PPE usage and work-at-height procedures.
  • Complete all installation, commissioning and maintenance reports with accurate photo documentation.
  • Conduct customer handover and provide basic guidance on system operation and monitoring apps.
  • Participate in standby/on-call duty and emergency breakdown response when required.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Technical Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory GCPV Installation & Maintenance Certificate (SEDA Malaysia).
  • Diploma/Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Solar PV installation, commissioning or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of residential Solar PV systems and EC, SEDA and TNB requirements.
  • Able to work at height and perform outdoor site work.
  • Valid Malaysian driving licence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PW4 (3 Phase) competency certificate.
  • Experience with Huawei, Solis, Sungrow or equivalent inverter brands.
  • Experience using Solar PV testing instruments.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
