Role Description The Training Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at Penang Marriott Hotel in Penang, Malaysia. This role is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating training programs for hotel associates across departments, ensuring alignment with Marriott standards and brand values. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting needs assessments, creating training materials, facilitating classroom and on-the-job training, and tracking learning outcomes and performance improvements. The Training Manager collaborates closely with department heads to support onboarding, service culture initiatives, compliance training, and leadership development. The role also involves maintaining training records, preparing reports for management, and continually enhancing training approaches to improve guest experience and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in training design, facilitation, and evaluation, with the ability to create clear and engaging learning materials.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to coach, mentor, and present to diverse groups of associates.
- Experience in hotel or hospitality operations, with solid understanding of service standards, guest experience, and brand requirements.
- Organizational and project management skills to coordinate multiple training programs, schedules, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with basic office software and learning tools (e.g., presentation software, spreadsheets, LMS or e-learning platforms).
- Proven ability to analyze performance data, identify skill gaps, and recommend practical training solutions.
- Prior experience in a training, learning and development, or HR-related role, preferably within hospitality or service industries.
- Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Human Resources, Education, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to work on-site, collaborate across departments, and adapt training approaches to different roles and cultural backgrounds.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional languages commonly used in Malaysia is an advantage.
