Position Title: Game Localization Linguist

About the Role: The Game Localization Linguist will be responsible for refining AI-generated translations and ensuring that game content resonates with the local market.
Responsibilities:
- Text Editing & Proofreading: Refine AI-generated translations using terminology databases, style guides, and local cultural norms. Correct logical errors and semantic deviations to ensure the text flows naturally and aligns with local reading habits.
- Compliance Review: Review content for political, religious, legal, and cultural sensitivities. Ensure translations comply with target market regulations and cultural norms to minimize reputational risks.
- In-Game Proofreading: Perform text checks within the game's test build to identify translation-related issues. Assist the design team in optimizing UI layout.
- Language Asset Maintenance: Maintain terminology databases and translation memories. Assist in creating or updating localization standards and style guides.
Qualifications:
- Native speaking of Chinese (Taiwan) languages with full professional proficiency in English language.
- Deep understanding of local culture, politics, and entertainment trends; capable of delivering game content that resonates with the local market.
- Familiar with the workflow of editing machine-translated text. Prior experience in game localization is required.
- Extensive experience in in-game proofreading is preferred; experience with large-scale FPS game titles is a strong plus.
- Strong willingness and ability to learn. Possesses a collaborative team spirit and is open to receiving constructive feedback from peers.
- Familiar with the latest official Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) orthography, ensuring in-game text aligns with the reading habits of the younger generation of players.
- Well-versed in Islamic cultural taboos and sensitivities within the Central Asian region to ensure content safety.
- Preferably have been a long term resident before, or have pursued education (or have had extended, in depth exposure) in Taiwan.
- Able to recognize and write Traditional Chinese characters, with a native like feel for Mandarin (台湾国语) usage.
