Role Overview

The SAP Tax Lead is accountable for end-to-end tax solution design, governance, and delivery across SAP S/4HANA. This role leads tax-related process design, ensures regulatory compliance, and acts as the primary interface between Finance, Tax, and IT during transformation and post-go-live support.

Key Responsibilities

Own global tax design across S/4HANA Finance (FI, SD, MM) including direct and indirect taxes
Lead design and configuration of:
- VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax, Withholding Tax
- Tax reporting and statutory compliance
Drive integration with external tax engines (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, custom solutions)
Define tax governance, controls, and audit-ready processes
Partner with business tax teams to translate regulatory requirements into SAP design
Support data migration, cutover, and hypercare activities for tax
Provide leadership to tax SMEs and offshore teams

Required Skills & Expertise

SAP S/4HANA Tax Configuration (FI, SD, MM)
Global indirect tax and withholding tax concepts
Tax determination, condition techniques, and country-specific localization
Integration with tax engines and reporting tools
Strong understanding of statutory reporting and compliance
Experience with SOX/internal controls related to tax

Experience Profile

10-15+ years in SAP Finance with deep tax focus
2+ end-to-end SAP implementations as Tax Lead or equivalent
Experience in multi-country/global rollouts mandatory
Prior experience in Oil & Gas preferred
