BP SAP Tax Lead

Role Overview

The SAP Tax Lead is accountable for end-to-end tax solution design, governance, and delivery across SAP S/4HANA. This role leads tax-related process design, ensures regulatory compliance, and acts as the primary interface between Finance, Tax, and IT during transformation and post-go-live support.

Key Responsibilities

• Own global tax design across S/4HANA Finance (FI, SD, MM) including direct and indirect taxes
• Lead design and configuration of:
  • VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax, Withholding Tax
  • Tax reporting and statutory compliance
• Drive integration with external tax engines (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, custom solutions)
• Define tax governance, controls, and audit-ready processes
• Partner with business tax teams to translate regulatory requirements into SAP design
• Support data migration, cutover, and hypercare activities for tax
• Provide leadership to tax SMEs and offshore teams

Required Skills & Expertise

• SAP S/4HANA Tax Configuration (FI, SD, MM)
• Global indirect tax and withholding tax concepts
• Tax determination, condition techniques, and country-specific localization
• Integration with tax engines and reporting tools
• Strong understanding of statutory reporting and compliance
• Experience with SOX/internal controls related to tax

Experience Profile

• 10-15+ years in SAP Finance with deep tax focus
• 2+ end-to-end SAP implementations as Tax Lead or equivalent
• Experience in multi-country/global rollouts mandatory
• Prior experience in Oil & Gas preferred
