The Senior Legal Counsel provides legal expertise in Corporate, Commercial & IP matters and shall further delegate work to, and supervise the activities of, junior colleagues in these areas.

Organizational Relationships:

The Senior Legal Counsel reports functionally to the Head of Unit, and the General Counsel & Director of Legal Director.

Essential Duties:

The Senior Legal Counsel's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Drafting and negotiating various types of commercial and corporate agreements;
Providing legal advice on commercial agreements (including media rights agreements, sponsorship agreements and licensing agreements) and event-related documents (including rules and regulations and bidding documents);
Providing regulatory and compliance advice regarding commercial and corporate matters;
Providing advice on IP matters (including with regard to the management of the AFC's portfolio); and
Participating in the implementation of the AFC's rights protection programs.
In addition, the Senior Legal Counsel shall delegate work to, and supervise the activities of, junior colleagues in the above-mentioned areas in line with the instructions of the Head of Unit.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

Qualified lawyer with at least 7 years of relevant commercial legal experience in an international organization and/or law firm.
Experience within the sports, media and/or marketing industry is an asset.
Demonstrable understanding of IP law.
Excellent communication, organizational and management skills. In particular, the Senior Legal Counsel should be comfortable communicating with junior colleagues in order to delegate work clearly and efficiently and be willing to aid the professional development of junior colleagues in a collaborative manner.
Excellent English language skills, both written and oral.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and related software.
