Overview
We are seeking a skilled and adaptable professional with expertise in catastrophe analytics to join our dynamic team in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. As part of our global analytics team, you will work closely with colleagues across various offices, contributing to client-centric strategies and developments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with Southeast Asian clients, running catastrophe models and providing tailored risk management solutions.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Act as a key liaison for Malaysian clients.
- Conduct catastrophe modelling for clients in Malaysia.
- Collaborate with other offices, including Mumbai and Ipswich, on CAT modelling tasks and data audits.
- Assist the Singapore office with client projects, adhering to in-house protocols.
- Support the senior catastrophe modeller in Malaysia with day-to-day client modelling tasks.
- Contribute to research and development initiatives within catastrophe modelling across Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, and India.
- Provide analytical reviews and a second pair of eyes for quality assurance.
- Deliver training and share knowledge with clients regularly.
- Interpret and present model outputs and conclusions to clients, including insurance and reinsurance companies.
About You
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, natural sciences, or a related field.
- Experience or interest in engineering, natural sciences, or natural catastrophe risk for insurance.
- Strong analytical skills and critical thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and SQL or other relevant programming languages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus).
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple territories.
- Flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving in dynamic environments.
- Ability to respond effectively and promptly to communications.
- Interest in understanding the broader implications of your work within the organisation.
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with in-house catastrophe modelling processes and licensed vendor models such as RMS and AIR.
- Experience in Excel, report writing, and creating PowerPoint presentations.
