Accountant (Malaysia)
About Us:
We are a Singapore-headquartered international executive search firm with a presence across Asia and North America, including established offices in Malaysia, Beijing, and the United States. As our business continues to grow, we are looking for a meticulous, dependable, and proactive Junior Accountant to join our team and support the Group's accounting and finance operations across multiple entities and regions.
Job Descriptions:
Accounts Receivable & Invoicing
- Generate and issue client invoices based on business requirements
- Maintain accurate invoice records in internal trackers and within Xero
- Monitor outstanding receivables, conduct regular follow-ups with clients via email, and track payment status
- Prepare AR Aging Reports periodically and contribute to improving overall collections efficiency
Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Record vendor bills promptly upon receipt and maintain up-to-date AP records
- Process bills and related accounting entries in Xero
- Coordinate with management to ensure timely payment approvals and disbursements
- Maintain organized payment schedules and vendor correspondence records
Payroll & General Accounting
- Assist in processing payroll-related journal entries and expense recordings in Xero
- Support month-end closing activities and routine financial data reconciliation
- Liaise with external accountants or auditors and provide required documentation as needed
GST / Tax Compliance
- Compile supporting documentation for quarterly GST filings
- Prepare GST reports and assist with GST (Singapore) and SST (Malaysia) submissions
- Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and in compliance with applicable local regulations
Group Finance Support
- Provide general accounting support across multiple Group entities spanning different jurisdictions
- Assist in organizing and coordinating cross-regional financial records and reporting
- Support the CFO on day-to-day finance operations and ad hoc tasks as assigned
Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- At least 1–2 years of hands-on accounting or finance experience
- Working knowledge of Xero is required
- Solid grasp of core accounting processes — invoicing, AP/AR, payroll, and basic bookkeeping
- Familiarity with Singapore and/or Malaysia accounting standards, GST, and SST requirements
Competencies
- Strong attention to detail, with a structured and organized working style
- Good time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Comfortable working in a multi-entity, cross-border environment
- Proficient in English (written and spoken) — able to handle emails and financial documents independently
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to multi-entity or cross-jurisdictional accounting
- Ability to independently prepare and submit GST reports
- Prior experience liaising with external auditors, corporate secretaries, or tax authorities for Singapore Region
Location
Malaysia — Office is located in KL Eco city. Remote or Hybrid arrangements are open to discussion depending on the candidate's profile.
