Job Description

Role Summary

The Liberty Insurance International APAC (LII APAC) Actuarial and Data Science (ADSS) team provides ADSS capabilities that include Pricing, Enablement, Legal Entity/Regulatory analysis (including Appointed/Certifying Actuary responsibilities), Data Science and US GAAP Reserving.

The Actuarial Analyst is responsible for providing technical and administrative support under general supervision across one or multiple ADSS capabilities provided by the LII APAC ADSS team.

Role Responsibilities

  • Aid in the preparation of analysis by using mathematical and statistical skills and synthesize data to support key initiatives and business challenges to peers and leaders within the function.
  • Retrieve, understand and manipulate data as it relates to assigned and related ADSS projects. Maintain clear and concise documentation of methods and activities.
  • Provide actuarial technical assistance and information to other departments.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced actuarial staff.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of actuarial tools.
  • Assist in the preparation of more complex ADSS reports and studies.
  • Present findings and exhibits to peers and others. Provide clear and concise communication of technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support efforts to build ADSS capabilities, partnering with ADSS peers across GRS to define, champion, and execute continuous improvement efforts, tailoring to meet the unique needs of the business.
  • Collaborate with Actuarial peers to ensure consistency of relevant actuarial approaches and assumptions, and adherence to best practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by your manager or other appropriate officer.
  • Take responsibility and show initiative in the development of technical and soft skills.

Role Experience and Skills

• Advanced Excel is required. Experience designing and delivering digital solutions (e.g. actuarial analysis/process improvements in Python) is desirable but not a prerequisite.

• Bachelor's degree in a numerate field (mathematics, finance, actuarial, computer science, data science, etc.) is desired but not a prerequisite.

• Foundational knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, insurance lines and markets.

• Good knowledge of insurance operations and ability to engage with multi-functional teams.

• Experience delivering work independently with a focus on enablement through building efficient, high-quality and repeatable processes and systems.
