KPMG Malaysia's Transaction Services (TS) practice supports clients throughout the entire deal lifecycle—covering buy-side, sell-side and non-deal value creation initiatives. The practice offers a comprehensive suite of services including financial, tax, commercial and operational due diligence, enabling clients to assess value, identify risks and make informed strategic decisions.
Within TS, the Commercial Due Diligence & Strategy (CDD&S) team specializes in providing commercial insights and growth-focused advisories across key sectors such as Healthcare, Consumer & Retail, Technology, Financial Services, Industrial Markets, Media, Infrastructure, Transportation & Logistics, Agriculture, Real Estate and Energy.
CDD&S supports leading Malaysian and international corporates, sovereign wealth funds, private equity funds and venture capital firms. The team is engaged across pre-deal analysis, post-deal value creation, market entry, feasibility assessments, and organic and inorganic growth strategy, delivering data-driven insights that help clients unlock long-term value.
What You Can Expect
In this role, you will be part of a high-performing advisory team responsible for delivering commercial due diligence, strategic assessments and growth-focused advisory engagements. Key expectations include:
Project Delivery & Insight Generation
Lead or support commercial due diligence engagements, including market sizing, competitor benchmarking, customer assessment, regulatory analysis and business plan validation.
Conduct targeted primary research via interviews with industry experts, customers, distributors and market participants.
Identify key commercial, operational and financial risks and value drivers impacting investment decisions.
Support market entry assessments, feasibility studies, synergy evaluations and broader value creation initiatives.
Deliver clear, concise and insightful client-ready reports and presentations.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Manage engagement workstreams, ensuring high-quality output, efficient execution and adherence to timelines.
Facilitate communication with senior client stakeholders, target company representatives and cross-functional KPMG teams.
Contribute to issue resolution and risk management throughout the engagement lifecycle.
Practice Development & Team Leadership
Support business development initiatives including proposal drafting, pitch preparation and thought leadership.
Participate in shaping the practice's strategic roadmap, methodology development and knowledge assets.
Coach and mentor junior team members and contribute to team capability-building initiatives.
Support recruitment, resourcing and team development activities.

Role
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping investment decisions and strategic directions for high-profile clients. You will:
Provide fact-based commercial insights that influence multimillion-dollar M&A and investment decisions.
Lead analyses that guide market entry, business transformation and long-term growth initiatives.
Identify synergy opportunities, operational improvements and value creation levers critical to post-deal success.
Strengthen client relationships through exceptional delivery and strategic advisory.
Contribute to the growth and development of the CDD&S practice, helping to define its capabilities and market position.Your work will directly impact clients investment strategies, business performance and market competitiveness—while shaping the continued growth of the CDD&S team.
Requirements
Who We're Looking For
Professional Experience
Senior Associate: 2–4 years experience in strategy consulting, commercial due diligence, private equity, M&A advisory or related analytical roles.
Assistant Manager / Manager: 4–7+ years experience with proven track record in leading commercial due diligence or strategy engagements.
Experience across multiple industries, M&A transactions or strategy-driven projects is highly advantageous.Qualifications & Technical Skills
Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Accounting or a related discipline.
Advanced qualifications (MBA, CFA or professional accounting certifications) are an added advantage.
Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word; familiarity with Power BI, Alteryx or Tableau preferred.
Experience working with market and financial databases such as Thomson One, Fitch, APQC, etc.
Strong command of written and spoken English.Core Competencies
